I'm curious how the GMs in this forum have either handled or would handle a thermonuclear detonation in a SF campaign. While not an issue with my more recent gaming group, I ran into the issue with my old gaming group. I can still hear a couple of the players saying,

"Aw c'mon now, an exploding nuke would do waaaaaay way way more damage than THAT!"

Why were the tetrarchs named the tetrarchs?

Question is asked from the sense of someone who lived in the setting and worked on Laco, digging at the Tetrarch ruins chose the name Tetrarch. So why was that?

    1. Sometimes things get named erronously- Queen's chamber in the Great Pyramid is one such- no queen was interred there but the name stuck.

    2. Could be that an expert intuitively chose an apt name based off what he was seeing in the ruins on Laco.

Either way, there is something on Laco that prompted the name Tetrarch.

You know the ones I mean, those planets that never had a name, nor a date that it was colonized, nor any other information that an established planet had in the setting. Instead they just had a Greek letter designation and the pronouncement that any ship lifting off from said planet would be destroyed by Space Fleet with no questions asked. Sort of a "here there be dragons- you cant go there"

Well, not to re-open the debate on Zebs but what if we salvaged the plague systems in the setting?

Been thinking about rank structure for the Flight, the minitary arm of the Rim Coalition
This thread was a discussion from earlier about it: http://www.starfrontiers.us/node/4544

and since Jacobsar has been doing really cool stuff working on the UPF rank structure with artwork to match I was thinking about the Flight, partly also because I need to get off my can and wrap up the Zebulon's Guide to the Rim for magazine publication.

Got to tour the Mexican Navy's training ship which is a tall ship

It got me thinking about training ships in the Frontier

What do they look like? chemical engines? HS 5 with chemical engines and configured to land on a planet?

or would they have atomic engines? hard to imagine what would be the SF equiv of sails

I'm guessing at least 1 LB and 1 Torp for weapons- it is a training ship and that would let officers with either space ship gunnery skill be trained.

Yes indeedy do, the Hok tu (omg ew). No one likes a new alien race more than the ol' captain as you might have well deduced by now, and I have just coughed up yet another; the Hok Tu.
In a nutshell, they're glowing greedy miners that will spit nasty gobs of goo on you if you anger them.

Recently decided I needed "mountie" miniature to paint up for my Star Frontiers collection  and just happened to get to visit the Huzzah convention held in Portland Me. So I stopped by the Copplestone castings booth and picked up a set with one mounted, one a foot and a dog.

For back gound on the RCMC:

I had been looking for this comparison for a few days, even if you prefer the flat map of the main book, this says a lot about the scope of that map, and how much is 'missing'.
     The Solar Neighborhood in 3D
Frequently I hear a preference to an evenly squared 100ly, 80ly, or 60ly sector, this is 25 Parsecs/81.5409065 light years.
The Frontier Sector is supposed to be more cluttered than this.
Oh humans!! Innocent We discover a galactic community filled with multiple species of aliens, and the first thing we think about is "how can we have sex with them?".

    so...
if you square a square it becomes a cube...
if you square a cube does it become an octoid?

Just checked out 12 episodes from the public library of this old show

What is really cool about it is the look of the show is great, even and despite it being made in 1975.

I love the look of the moon base and moon landscape, the Eagles, the orange snow suits cum vacuum suit, and the sets. It has a really cool Star Frontiers feel

Whats sad is that you can describe it as Star Frontiers meats the worst storyline ideas from Star Trek, and the majority of the aliens they didn't even bother with the Fore head of the week syndrom of star Trek.

I liked that Fiend Folio (?) pic of a Drow Elf so much that I morphed it into my SF campaign. Enjoy! Wink
