Terl, Gilbert and I played cannon Knight Hawks on the openRPG server.
    It was a blast! (literally).

Terl ran most of the game since he has the most "Fu" with the program. :-)
Each of us had a Frigate and two Assault Scouts.
Gilbert ran off the board early in the game but not without taking out one of my Assault Scouts.
Terl was East of us and ended up fighting my single Frigate. Neither of our gunners could hit the broad side of the moon!

We decided that we need some special rules for games that include more than two players.

Laying in bed considering some items I left off the ships equipment list in a game I was trying to decide what to do about scanners- go AD or ZEBs

I seems to me that the best choice is go STar Trek.

I handed out proto type CAS scanners from Zebs for PCs to feild test during a Volturnus campaign and the players largely ingnored them and I suspect some of them thought they were stupid. Well that isn't fun.

and the AD scanners seem a little silly- a vapo and a geo scanner both have mass spectrometer capability so they aught to be one scanner.

I'm feeling inspired to write a new article for the Frontiersman on personal defenses, exploring existing ones and creating new options.  I could use help gathering as much information on defenses in the game as possible -- suits, screens, shields, the works.  If you all could help me compile that info, it would be much appreciated!

I've always felt compelled to explain why the PCs are being sent to Volturnus as it seems to not make sense on the surface. It you read the discriptions of the previous team and compare their capabilities to the starting PCs it stands out that the starting PCs are barely capable of pouring piss out of a boot with instructions written on the heal.

Well, the only difference between a military skeinsuit and a civilian skeinsuit is that the military skeinsuit is camouflaged. There is no entry in the Dragon/Polygon Q&A's that discusses the difference.

The whole of the information on Skeinsuits is this:

Reading here and there on this forum, I get the feeling that the pilot skill is often more highly prized and, dare I say, deemed more necessary, then the astrogator skill. I'm too lazy to look it up now, but I even recall a topic in which the astrogator was replaced by navigation buoys and a service. I think this is due in part to the ridiculous prerequisites set forth in the canon rules (but I won't get into that here). In this topic, I will plant some food for thought by demostrating how astrogation may be the single most important skill onboard an interstellar craft.

For whatever reason, the Crash on Volturnus module has never really appealed to me. Is there another module designed for starting characters that is set on a populated, high-tech world?

I'm simply not good enough with the system (yet) to write such a thing, or I'd do it myself and submit it for community review... but I can't be the only new SFDM to look at Volturnus and think, "Man, I'd really prefer to run something else."

I'm really itching for some live play SF (D&D with the wife is fine, but she is no longer a fan of SF and I'm really jonesing).

I participated in some live D&D via OpenRPG but I have no idea how to host such a game. I've done several trial solo runs but just can't seem to figure out how to open a room (and keep it open) let alone load maps.

    Anyone know anything about that?
I'm not overly fond of Zeb's Guide...nor do I have any qualms stating why. Tongue out

While surfing the net today, I found myself reading about the letter of last resort.

"You're everything that's base in humanity," Cochrane continued. "Drawing up strict, senseless rules for the sole reason of putting you at the top and excluding anyone you say doesn't belong or fit in, for no other reason than just because you say so."
