 November 17, 2011 - 8:27am | At long last, I've played my first game of Star Frontiers. All the wondering around my cousin's old boxed set, all the tentative conversations about playing the game. At last I've finally played. Although... with all the house rules and patches through the Star Frontiersman I'm not sure how much we're playing Star Frontiers vs. some mutant aberration of the game. Nevertheless, I thought it kicked ass, and can't wait to play again. What we're using: |

 November 7, 2011 - 9:42am | What's the Frontier equivalent of the Virginia Military Institute? Has to have 'story' and a name. Controversy is optional but always good for story like VMI having to integrate women. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
November 7, 2011 - 8:49am | Thinking along the lines of French Foreign Legion, Ghurkas, or lesser known Italian Arditi (with their motor 'I don't give a F---) or the Bersiglieri. Royal Guard could qualify since they've "never been defeated" but Royal Guard encompasses the entire army for Clarion and I'm thinking on a smaller scale; a named unit that is part of a larger formation or perhaps a mercenary company. Unit has to have a name, a story, and a place e within the setting. Mercenary companies are acceptable for this exercise even though I'm not that interested in them - likely others are. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
November 2, 2011 - 3:13pm | I'm moving on to stage 3 of my history project: Age of Adventure (End of 1st Sathar War to beginning of the 2nd Sathar war- also know as the Age of the MegaCorp) RE: The timeline article in issue 16 and (RE: the History of the Capella System and associated timeline in Zebs Guide to the Rim coming out in issue 18- I'll try to get the rellevant material posted in the Zebs Guide Expanded project soon) My goals with the project are: 1. to tell the "story" of that history since a story is easier to read then a dry collection of dates. November 1, 2011 - 2:21pm | It seems to me that this idea of a "balanced" party seems a bit forced. (I don't buy it.) Imagine, if you can, a bunch of different adventuring parties moving from adventure to adventure in the Frontier. All of them are made up of a "balanced" party made up of the 4 races having skills fulfilling a milatarist, an explorer, a tech and a medic. That's pretty darn homogenistic. October 22, 2011 - 7:45am | I'm just about to submit Zebs guide to the Rim and Capella, BTW, thank you to everyone that has contributed to the Zebs Expanded project. I need help with a few things: could use graphic images for the capellan/ Flight ranks (officer and enlisted) that were developed. Art work involving ifshnits would be super cool tool though we only really need line drawings. Art work could involve almost any race actually as CFM hires anyone but ifshnits would be really good (just not the space dwarf style but rather the written description).
