December 2, 2011 - 8:38pm | Hey! :) I was wondering about the efficacy of a Sathar planet-based Listening Post? What kind of capabilities would such a thing have, or to clarify, what would be the range (in light years) from which it could logically spy on a target? Would it be positioned to spy on a specific target or would it have an ability to data mine radio transmissions from omidirectional sources...or would it do both? Would it be equiped to visually spy using long range telescopes maybe (or probes)? Or simply rely on intercepting radio communications? Any information would be helpfull! December 2, 2011 - 10:29am | Hey guys! By naturally occuring I mean (for example), sulfuric acid pools created through volcanism. I am running into a bit of a problem concerning damage and how to apply it to naturally occuring acidic sources. I used the 'search' function and could not find anything that would help me define a generalized damage alottment system to this. So I was wondering if I could get some input from the community about it? :) I don't have to outrun that nasty beast my friend...I just have to outrun you! ![]() |
![]() December 1, 2011 - 9:22pm | Planetary Footnote in AD states: Terledrom is ruled by a council of Vrusk companies and elected dralasites. The companies control all trade with other planets, and considers smuggling a serious crime. The planet has rings that are visible from the ground during the day. Planetary footnote in Zebs restates the info about the government. Question: What would this government look like or how would it work? It sounds like the vrusk companies control trade and foriegn policy and perhaps the dralasites control the domestic side. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
November 30, 2011 - 10:36pm | Hey! :) I'm working on a project that I plan to submit to the webzine in the future and was hoping to get some feedback from the community about the planet/system and about the beasties inhabiting the planet. I'm just an average Joe and not particularly scientifically-minded and I'm not much of a cannon wonk either so all my ideas/input are just simple imagination and creativity and I need to bounce my ideas off others in order to make sure all of this stuff is plausible. ![]() November 30, 2011 - 6:45am | I need to populate market stalls in the Forum of Psychsorium with products and the first thing that came to mind was gag gifts of the whoopie cushion kind. RE Document page: http://www.starfrontiers.us/node/5973 and discussion page: http://www.starfrontiers.us/node/5929 I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
![]() November 28, 2011 - 6:19am | Pop Quiz: How many creatures, besides sapient, are detailed in AD and the modules? I've converted my private little project called Volturnus Revisited which was a place for me to work on details of my F2F campaign to be an open collaborative project. Currently working on a review and retool of the creatures. The project now allows anyone to post with or without membership, so drop by and comment. http://www.starfrontiers.us/node/5954 I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
![]() November 28, 2011 - 1:49am | I have been thinking about the the way spaceships move through space in the Knight Hawks rules. The Acceleration/Deceleration Factor makes sense, but not so much with the Maneuver Rating system. In real-life, a spacecraft can thrust forwards and maintain a constant speed until countered with reverse thrust, but when the craft change its facing, it will stay in its original heading. The craft can spin like its in "death blossom mode", and it will keep to the original heading. |
![]() November 22, 2011 - 6:08am | Thinking about the relationship between the UPF and its member worlds, it seems to me that the UPF would be less likely to have capitol punishment then its most conservative member planets. Sort of a reverse of New York state and the federal government: New York, despite having capitol punishment on the books doesn't execute anyone where as the federal government does. In the Frontier capitol punishment is far more likely an occurance carried out by a planetary government then the UPF. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
![]() November 20, 2011 - 7:59pm | One of the key stones of Star Frontiers has been that the technology is only a little more advanced then today's tech. What are the sorts of technology that geeks in the actual Star Frontiers setting playing a RPG would be envisioned as a little (or a lot) beyond their present technology? In other words what are the Ultra technologies? 1. Artificial gravity (an obvious one) I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
November 20, 2011 - 12:12pm | The great UPF conspiracy is that they know the locations of the homeworlds. The UPF high leadership knows that the Sathar destroyed all life on the homeworlds shortly after the Vrusk, Dralasites, and Humans established the first colonies in the Frontier. The Sathar attack all races that they detect developing interstellar travel and cross-species cooperation. The Sathar do this to maintain their dominance and security as a race. -iggy |
