![]() February 25, 2012 - 6:46am | I just noticed this product at THW: http://www.twohourwargames.com/riandre.html I instantly realized that it could be used to run a solo game, you against the zombies. It reminded me of a solo wargame scenario I read in one of my old magazines. Similar mechanic of deck of cards. Good bad and neutral things in the cards and you turn them to see what turns up. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
![]() February 19, 2012 - 5:29pm | a google search turned up this little discussion: http://jrients.blogspot.com/2010/08/do-dralasites-smell-like-poo.html I can authoritatively state that I smelled myself and I smell just fine. EDIT: further research revealed this discussion on the same topic: http://starfrontiers.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=992 I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
February 15, 2012 - 2:39pm | Here is a little writing project for youse guys. It deals with background stories or the thing the players always seem to forget to think of. In this case we have two NPCs a Vrusk and a Vimh who just like in the movie Trading Places have switched their basic roles. The Vimh is rich and successful while the Vrusk is down and out. This is justified from the racial write ups which state: Alpha Dawn rule book Sounds like a great job but where did you say we had to go? |
February 14, 2012 - 6:43pm | Another discussion lead to the idea for these so here is a work up for them tell me what you think so they can be submitted to the mag. Tech and Robcom Gloves. Both of these gauntlets are usually worn on the dominant hand but they restrict the the dexterity (any roll involving dex is made at one half dex) of the wearer. The gauntlets are a combination of manual and robotic driven tools used in situations where carrying a tool box is not convenient such as in vacuum atmosphere or when speed is needed such as repairs under fire. Sounds like a great job but where did you say we had to go? |
![]() February 13, 2012 - 7:36am | While searching the sf.us site I came accross "Rise of the Sathar" in the Star Frontiers (URS) project. I'd like to run this with some conversions to AD. Hope Deryn has time. :-) |
![]() February 11, 2012 - 5:20pm | Black economy is basically illegal stansaction; they are anything, drugs, prostitution, gamboling, probably want to toss in strippers. So with a cashless society, IDs and electronic currency how does the black economy work? I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
![]() February 11, 2012 - 1:15pm | Busting up concrete getting in the way of fun today. And by fun, "no visit to game store". |
![]() February 11, 2012 - 1:00pm | Was thinking of large scale arenas and had a few minutes to type this up. Let me know what you think. Content of Adventure Writing Forum project Caught between a rock and a laserThis adventure assumes the players have been caught and forced to fight in the arena or volunteered to fight for a cause. In either case the adventure should run the same.
Imagine a roman-style arena. Stands to seat thousands, dirt or sand floor, small buildings and platforms to hide, etc. The arena is littered with weapons and defenses, some are in open sight, others are hidden. Powered items have limited SEU, the players shouldn't know how long an item's power source will last. You can draw out the arena and decide where items are or determine what % chance a character has of finding an item. For instance, there is a 40% chance a character will find an item on the following table. If the roll includes a "0" the character has found two items. Sample Item Table (I need to make a d100 table) 1d10 - ITEM 1 - laser pistol with 4 SEU 2 - blasthammer (Issue #13, p6) 3 - skiensuit jacket will absorb 20 pts of interia damage 4 - auto pistol with 2 clips (no burst mode) 5 - electric sword with 10 SEU 6 - sonic devestator with 1 shot 7 - tangler grenade 8 - spear 9 - shock gloves with 10 SEU 10 - roll twice Larger Arenas may include vehicles and different types of terrain. Mix up such areas with traps, pits, water areas, dry land, mazes, etc. |
![]() February 9, 2012 - 6:17pm | In East Asia the Chop is a seal, carved from a small block of wood or ivory that usually says something like "This is the seal of [insert name]" A chop is a legal signature used in documents and art. At its most basic its a block print. Because they are carved from wood or ivory you get a unique print like a finger print. I was thinking that this is an interesting custom and that we should barrow it for one of the races; vrusk and ifshnit are the ones that jump out to me. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
![]() February 8, 2012 - 10:45am | I'm doing some work on laying out a recreation station for the Down Below vimh adventure Thread for actually designing that particular station is here: http://www.starfrontiers.us/node/6163#comment-24439 Question I'd like help with is how to layout the sation? one whole deck dedicated to casinos, another deck is the red light district, another deck is resturants, another deck is amusement parks. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
