March 28, 2012 - 9:26pm | I was thinking about adding time travel into a star frontiers adventure. There are so many ways to make it happen. The players could find an abandoned, strange, device (You guessed it, a time machine), and accidentally travel to the past or future. Or, the PGC could be unveiling their new time machines. A criminal could steal one of them, and the players have to follow him/her in order to prevent the future being changed. What do you think? Is it too crazy? What would the future be like for civilizations living in OUR future? Tell me, have you ever heard of a time lord? A species that was said to exist a long time ago. Legend says they are older than even the mythical Tetrachs. Maybe, on some glorious day, a survivor of their apocolypse will visit the frontier. There is nothing we can do now. Nothing but sit and wait. Professor Clanuuk'Tu |
![]() March 27, 2012 - 4:05pm | I come across stuff and I end up wondering what the other members of the core four would think of it. For example: body sushi, personally I love sushi and I suppose I have a fondness for other things associated with this. But I get thinking how would the other races react. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
![]() March 27, 2012 - 1:35pm | This WIP adventure is kid friendly so I thought I'd share. Suggestions welcome. Content of Adventure Writing Forum project Zoological Breakout!By w00t (This version is an overview, I'm using Google Docs to complete the adventure, FYI) Earlier in the day, an older dwartzert fought with a young cub, the zoo handler tried to move the cub to a new pen using a sonic prod to keep the elder at bay. This enraged the beast; it gave an ear-splitting call causing the pride to stampede. The handler was taken to the hospital to receive care of a broken arm. You are four agents of on loan from Pan-Galactic Corporation relaxing at the Trivid Gaming Hall after a dangerous mission. Suddenly there is a blaring alarm from your chronocom followed an emergency public broadcast. "Alien creatures have broken out of the Zoological Park! They are terrorizing the city, stay inside, PLMPD has been notified but a major accident on the Spaceport Expresway is occupying most of the patrols!" What do you do? Setup: Roll 2d10, this is the number of dwartzert on the loose. If there are more than 8 they will travel in pairs, splitting up to blanket the city in chaos! They will enter libraries, hotels, shops and restaurants running around and breaking things. Assume the characters can travel to the zoo straight away. They will be issued a sonic stunner, needler pistols or rifle (players choice). Note that needlers have sleep darts causing 1d10 +sleep for d100 turns. Notes

![]() March 24, 2012 - 9:45pm | Watching a documentary on the Essex that was the whaling ship that was attacked and sunk by a whale and became the inspiration for Moby Dick. The Essex was 20 years old which was nearing the end of the ship's useful life. How long can a space ship hull enjoy a usefull working life, before its sold for scrap, or purchased by a lower budget colonization effort, etc. I suppose the real question is what are the effects of age on a space ship hull, how do we quantify them in game terms? (tactical impact or KHs action) I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
![]() March 23, 2012 - 10:01pm | Its call the Frontier and the game and setting was intentionally modeled on "a western in space" so what about the California Gold Rush? Overnight California went from an outpost of civilization to a major population center. Lawlessness was rampant, fortunes were made for those businesses providing services to the miners, Ideas for where to work this into the setting? I'm thinking early froniter, either before SW1 or immediately after it. Laco comes to mind- its outpost in AD and Moderate population in Zebs I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
![]() March 22, 2012 - 10:15pm | What If creature STA and robot body types used "hit dice". Would referees enjoy rolling these stats? |
![]() March 22, 2012 - 9:13am | I was tired of how all computers are all the same in SF, and how they don't mesh-up robot levels, so I made this houserule for CPU Levels. __________ |
![]() March 22, 2012 - 1:55am | Inspired by the Brown Dwarf setting in SFman 16 or 17, I had the idea that a similar destructive setting with a Pulsar might be quite interesting. If my knowledge on them is still correct, the electromagnetic radiation beam of a pulsar could wipe off an entire population from a planet's face. Last game played: Somewhere in the 80th (Vrusk by heart) -- fond of Jugger, a "post-apocalyptic" sport |
March 21, 2012 - 7:33am | OK gang I would like to submit this scenario but need some playtesting. SACRIFICESSITUATION Sounds like a great job but where did you say we had to go? |
![]() March 19, 2012 - 4:53pm | In another thread I talked about creating character backgrounds on the fly. Jedion wrote an article about the Art of Writing Fluff in Issue #15, earlier today I whipped up a new adventure and needed to find a way to introduce the characters. I couldn't think of anything so I started by writing backgrounds for each NPC and realized how well they would work for PC's. Basically the NPC backgrounds can be "reasons why your character is here today." |
