Just released the fifth issue of Sci-fi Sandbox, used to be called captains log. What is special about this issue is it was written by Larry Moore, aka w00t!

Check it out if you don't mind.

I don't suffer from insanity; I enjoy every minute of it.

Anyone out there have house rules for creating Star Frontiers characters fully developed, sort of like the character creation method used in Traveller?

I think it would be a cool way to create PCs when needed for an adventure without having to resort to a GM pregenerated PC. I also think it would make it easier to brink Knight Hawks into the game even for brand new players.

I have been thinking: what if spaceships run on AIs? That is, ships with a Robotic Level 5 or 6.

That could change the scope of the space-themed adventures, if the ships think like a person.

One would assume intelligent ships would be used as automated craft - like bulk haulers or recon drones - but with normal ships, they can be highly effective in combat or in emergencies, as they could better coordinate ship's systems, and allow crew the execute commands quickly.

just spotted this comment in a poll:

    Shadow Shack wrote:

"Did I mention that we're anotomically compatible? That means all of the joys of going through the motions without any of the pains of birth and upbringing."

"It's all good, not to mention four teats instead of two!"

"Once you go yaz, you'll lust for hairy azz!"

"C'mere baby, I'll show ya some battle rage."

    "What's that flapping noise?"

Hey everyone- I'm wondering what kind of vessel would most entities (corporations) use to haul bulk cargo from the surface of a planet into orbit? Anyone ever seen a write up or deck plan for a vessel like that? I guess it would have to be a HS 4 or 5 system ship streamlined for atmospheric travel, etc. I'm having a hard time getting my mind around how something like that would be economical though considering the mass of things involved.

Well the World Cup is being decided and a coworker is whining that he cant warch it. Immediately my mind goes to SF. After the world series for sport X is decided on a number of worlds the Galaxy Cup is held and fans wait nervously by their subspace radio for word of the victor. Can you transmit video via subspace? Probably, I would guess.

    Hello all,

Just found this forum; looks great!

Just wondering if anyone has thought about doing, or has actually done, work on a "real" setting -- i.e., one not in "Frontier Space" but one based on the actual solar system & surrounding areas out to, say, 50 light years or so.

    Thoughts?

    Thanks,

I rather like the idea of what was done with Shadowrun and its setting when a new edtion of the rules came out- they simply advanced the timeline and made the prior edition the past.

If i did this with Star Frontiers, I believe that after doing a little more work on the timeline I would advance a 2.0 edition setting to 150-225 FY period. I'd overhaul the tech to look like its a little better than todays tech. Hoverhaul the KHs rules. And finally expand the setting by 800%

Ok this is a hey come and look at what I'm doing announcement.

Been plugging away on yazirian religious belief and landscape for a long time now. In fact I'm probably close to a write up on the Family of One in the near future so if you have time to look over some threads please do and comment as its easier to incorporate a good comment before I write the deal up.

Now the width and breadth of everything to do with yazirian religious belief and practice is too much to consider right now so I'll just post some links to threads dealing with the Family of One.
