March 2, 2014 - 1:13am | When you play Star Frontiers, what is the tone of your game? Is it serious? Is it silly? Do you play it as space opera, or is it hard science? Tell us about your style, even if you haven't played in years. |
March 2, 2014 - 12:51am | The Jakar are large, bovine/canine aliens for Star Frontiers that first appeared on a website called the Hound. They are also listed as one of the playable races on Ragnarr's Ships & Bots. I have been using them in my own Star Frontiers game for a couple years now. We have discussed them here on this site a few times (do a search for Jakar, and you'll turn up several mentions of them). The art for the Jakar is taken from a TMNT book, but they were rewritten to be an alien species. Here is the original picture: |

![]() February 24, 2014 - 6:53pm | I keep finding myself thinking about Silent Running after it got brought up in this forum in a thread about sci fi movies. I had seen it as a kid but had also forgotten it. I'm going to have to get a copy of the DVD or locate it on the net as I still cant really remember it in detail. Pictures of models of the Valley Forge on the net really intrigue me. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
February 23, 2014 - 12:32pm | Four people have registered, two of which have submitted characters and are getting into the pre-game role play. Join and submit a bad guy and make some mayhem in my reverse scenario play-by-post game of the Starship Omicron mini module (from the Referee Screen). |
![]() February 20, 2014 - 6:18pm | So I'm building a 3-D model of the sathar destroyer that I did the write-up on. Here's the premliminary model with the basic shape plus the shuttles around the center section and the laser cannon sticking out the nose.I'm working on adding in details now. I'm planning on adding in outlines of the airlocks and hatches as well as detailing on the engines and the weapons. Ad Astra Per Ardua! ![]() February 19, 2014 - 1:45pm | So... while looking over TO's Sathar deckplans the idea of having six quickdeaths unleashed on a party of even bad ass spacemarines seems like a quick route to a TPK. Back in highschool my running of Voltumus never got far enough for the players to encounter the quickdeath.... but just looking at thier stats... they seem like like that are hella dangerous and an easy way to randomly end up with dead PCs. ----------------------------------------------- |

February 10, 2014 - 1:37pm | As I mentioned last week, I just ran a marathon game of Star Frontiers. I am happy to report that the players described it as "epic". |
![]() February 9, 2014 - 9:25pm | There have been some rumblings of desire to locate or start a new Star Frontiers game on-line in various locations and I'm starting to feel that itch myself. So I thought I'd throw the idea out there and see what comes flying back. I'm thinking to at least start it as a play by post game. Eventually, I'd like to do the occasional live session via something like Roll20.net or even just google hangouts. So questions for the crowd are: 1) Who's interested in playing Ad Astra Per Ardua!
