 May 26, 2017 - 2:35am | I am working on a new set of weapon cards. I noticed Rifles and Pistols have the same damage output. I figure rifles should have more damage than pistols. But in doing so lethality is increased. I want to make all rifles 2d10 but, realize how fast it can kill off PC. What are your thoughts? |
 May 23, 2017 - 8:50am | The Displacer Beast was inspired by A E. Van Vogt's sci f i story"Black Destoyer" and later his story, "Voyage of the Space Beagle" from 1939 & 1950 respectively. It entered the anals of fantasy gaming way back in AD&D days and has been a staple ever since. It seems to me that the quick death with it's tentacles is an adaption of the Displacer Beast back to sci Fi. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
May 9, 2017 - 7:11am | Would it be possible to misjump into a Dyson sphere? Or rather would this be a practical plot hook? For example the post void jump speed is quite high, not sure if there is enough space to maneuver within the Dyson sphere. Or if there is enough time for a bail out if necessary? Almost want the PC's ship to crash anyway to force exploration of the sphere. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
May 9, 2017 - 6:44am | I suspect the answer is yes. Binary and trinary star systems can have stars place at large distances so would it be simpler to micro jump or fly straight? Should not micro jumps within a multi star system have shortened computational times since the targets are really close and hard to miss. April 29, 2017 - 2:28pm | Tactical nuke have been an old school staple in science fiction. There was a movie about an expidition? to Mars that involved defeating a Jaws like creature with a head like Godzilla, Silent Running had convient nuclear charges on a Commercial freighter, the Predator seemed to use the smallest possible tac nuke as a weapon of last resort. So my question is how much to buy a pocket nuke in setting? I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
April 11, 2017 - 5:58pm | Ground Fleet was created in the fires of the Sathar War but subsequently its funding for personnel was slashed in favor of Space Fleet. The view being that Space Fleet is the first line of defense and Ground Fleet can always be brought back to higher readiness through the training cadres retainned at the end of the war. This is perhaps an overly optimistic presumption made by the politicians but one Ground Fleet has had to live with for decades.
