Gretl Grohn is named as MSO Chief Surgeon. 24 FY Vaccine for the Blue Plague is discovered at the MSO center on Morgaine's World. First impression: Gretl Grohn is a dralasite. I see the name Grohn and dralasite comes to mind. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
![]() January 21, 2017 - 7:19am | Ground Fleet Depot Sigma 9 Thirty years ago a squadron of armored explorers were put into stasis storage. (Assuming the KHs Stasis field was adpted for other applications like storage of equipment in a manner that would prevent it from deteriorating over time.). For some reason the 10 year inspection of this equipment has been overlooked for 30 years. When the stasis field was deactivated half of the body of a Ground Fleet technician was found in the depot. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
![]() January 21, 2017 - 12:02am | Has anyone implemented the "Tote That Barge" material by Matt Bandy in Dragon Magazine #107 in their Star Frontiers game? If so, what worked, what didn't, and what did you have to fix to make it really go? Does anyone have a spreadsheet setup to do the heavy lift of the calculations? What procedure or steps did you come up with to run it? IMPORT TABLE |

January 3, 2017 - 8:52am | The discussion about Void jump times got me looking deeper into the nature of robots. What follows is some musing on this subject. Occasionally someone talks about giving new special programs to robots. One of the modules, I believe, gives all maintenance robots a maintenance program, presumably drawn from the list of computer programs. But I don't trust module-writers to always fully understand the rules. Let's look at this more closely. |
![]() December 31, 2016 - 9:15pm | In March 2006, some of the WotC designers for D20 posted an interesting design article on how they prepare encounters for tournament play, which they called "The Delve Format" named after the Dungeon Delve encounters they ran. The original article has long since disappeared from the WotC site, but is resurrectable courtesy of the Internet Archive: https://web.archive.org/web/20161031212753/http://archive.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/dd/20060317a |
![]() December 29, 2016 - 11:37am | So, you are ready to build your own starship? Great! Where will you build it? As everyone knows, the choice of Ship Construction Center is an important one for both controlling costs and avoiding delays. Everyone also knows that Class I is more cost effective than Class II is more cost effective than Class III. And everyone knows that Class III can only build system ships. But before you choose the SCC you will award the contract to build your next ship, maybe there's a little more to look into. |

![]() December 8, 2016 - 9:32pm | What music would you put on a Star Frontiers playlist to run in the background for your games? My initial thought was to stick with things from 1980 to 1985 to fit the time period the original game came out, such as the sound track to Blade Runner and Tron. Searching around and ran across a great place to mine ideas from: https://io9.gizmodo.com/the-top-100-science-fiction-themed-songs-of-all-time-1650307105 |
