    New Skill System Proposal
There are nine professional skill areas (PSAs) describing all potential aspects of a character's knowledge and ability. None of these PSAs are skills unto themselves, but instead a categorical collection of related skills. For example, you won't have a military skill. You'll have a melee weapons skill, or a demolitions skill.

I know this seems non-gaming related, but it actually is. I would like to know what everyone's favorite animals are, real or imaginary, or if there is one you've never seen and would like to see.

I just wanted to let everyone know that even though not a lot appears to be going on in the book projects  I'm doing a lot of work on articles for the next issue right now. At least one of those articles has some updates for the AER that will appear after the issue is released.

Does anyone know where I can find a digital version of the Port Loren Raiders Mini-Module? If not, would anyone be willing to type it into a word document and/or scan the images for posterity?

I was wondering why cargo transports all have to carry their cargo internally.  Why aren't large cargos handled like barges or tractor trailers.  The cargo would be put in a cargo container which would be lifted off world some kind of atmospheric transport.  Then they would be lined up and tied together for a cargo engine to push to the destination.  The ship itself would be just a small crew compartment, and some big mama jama engines.  The hauling capacity would only be limited by the size of the engines and the weight of the cargo in the containers.

Hi guys. I am buying a large format printer to do custom maps for games. What size do you think are optimal for maps? This will determine what size of printer I get. My choices are 17" wide and 24" wide. The price difference is double ($1600 versus $3200).
    Thanks for your feedback!

The thread on Sniper Rifles has gotten a little off the topic of Sniper Rifles (or the associated skill involved in shooting such).

How would one craft a 'purely Alpha Dawn' style Military PSA skill set. As I stated in the other thread, the skills associated with being an outdoorsman or survivalist (aka scout mentioned there) seem much more militaristic in nature than being associated with the more Scientist style types in the Biosocial PSA.

So I was thinking about shields the other day and to my knowledge there is no rule or article related to using shields in Star Frontiers. And when I say a shield I mean like you would think of as being used in medieval times or like Captain America, etc. I even considered writing up an article submission for StarFrontiersman using shields but the more I thought about them I realized that the Star Frontiers rules would make it a bit difficult. So instead I just decided to create a forum topic to get a good discussion.

Well, if I can't get the pros to go to the Computer section of AER, I'll bring it to the pros in the main forum. Here's a concept for Frontier computers I came up with earlier. If there's anything that looks wrong, rip it apart. I'm looking to make something that works for everyone and is simple to utilize. Here we will be discussing simply how the computers work, which sets the ground work for computer programming and repair.

I have a question about skill checks. Sometimes in a game I will have the players make a skill check. If they fail. They will ask if they can try again. It can become a a series of dice roll until the yget it. I was wondering how you guys handle this situation?
