Refer to: 2001: A Space Odyssey - Arthur C. Clarke Memorial Game.

Sir Arthur C. Clarke passed away on March 19th, 2008. This game is in honor of his contributions to the science fiction community.

THIS IS A PLAY BY POST GAME for 2 to 5 players. I have diversified the line-up of characters. Choose a character you're comfortable with. The Referee does all the rolling. The player simply decides what they want their character to do. Don't make your character do anything that disturbs the continuity of play or player immersion in the game.

I posted this as "Soldiers as Followers" in Delta Dawn, but I thought that more people might be interested in this particular discussion.

As I was participating in a discussion at the Gleemax blogs, I came across some great ideas that will help Delta Dawn troop movement and combat mechanics. The use of a "followers" mechanic would allow you to control a squad, platoon, or whatever. Here's how it works.

I thought Zeram made some good observations concerning the sniper rifles in Star Frontiersman #8. He said:

Since this was brought up recently as an appreciable subject, I thought I'd start a discussion on what people like or don't like about current aquatic rules and what vehicles and equipment they would like to see.

For AER, I'll be grouping the ship construction rules in with the vehicle and spaceship construction rules for a unified system. But there's a lot more stuff to discuss.

First, and foremost, I really like the art that inspired this article. Shell did an excellent job reimagining the mechanon. I will be using the image as a template for my future drawings of the mechanon.

At first glance, I think this article, like the one for the Eorna, are a little long to fit as is in AER, so I will edit this down to its necessary components. However, as an article, such length is good for a meaty read.

Some comments for the Chronocom article in Issue #8.

With the set costs of items in the Frontier, I was hoping for some set costs for usage of locating criminals for Star Law, though the set cost for Bounty Hunters is fine. Breezing over this part in the early part of the article was kind of anti-climactic, and not having the Star Law officer's cost in the "They're Watching You" section compounded it.

Okay, guys and gals, let's hear your thoughts on this issue of the Star Frontiersman. Lots of goodies. Lots of great art. Post your thoughts here. 70 pages of eye-popping goodness that people from other game systems are enjoying as much as Star Frontiers fans.

Hmm...  This is a tough one.

I think it would reveal the intent of the observed party.

    For example -

A Vrusk in the woods sees some armed men walking around.  A successful Comprehension roll might reveal that they are on a patrol, or looking for someone, or travelling back to base.

In a conversation, it would reveal the tone of what the person really means.

We should probably post the example from the book and work from there.

    Dear all:

In reading through the Star Frontiersman, I noticed virtually all of the new alien races were humanoid. We have Cat people, Rat people, Bat people etc. One of things I liked about SF was that not every race was humanoid, Ul-Mor, Edestekai, Dralasite, Vrusk etc.

I think we can do better than cats and rats, let's see what kind of non-humanoid races we can come up with.

I have a number of ideas, but I think we need to start with a basic racial premise, as in silicon based life forms, aquatic, gas, etc.

    Thanks!
