November 6, 2014 - 12:11am | I've been pondering how the general education of beings is done in the Frontier for zero level beings. I'm thinking about the equivelent of Earth High School / Secondary education, not college or university or suplemental trade schools. Dralasites: -iggy |
![]() November 3, 2014 - 12:57pm | So in the conclusion of my first SF adventure last night, one of my players used wreslting on a guy they were capturing. The scene went over fine... he grabbed the guy, another character could then easily strip the guy's rifle away from his hands. But i was wondering... is there really just no defense against wrestling except going full defense (not attacking and getting impossing a -15% to the attack)? ----------------------------------------------- |
November 1, 2014 - 5:10pm | I'm building up a game for play over the Thanksgiving weekend that will place my PCs on a starship without spacer skills. I want the captain to hire them on for general work and to aid in exploration duties, cargo duties, etc. What other jobs are non spacer skills that a ship needs? -iggy |
October 28, 2014 - 4:02pm | When the core four meet each other, there are initially no wars. Despite the relatively aggressive cultures of humanity and the Yazirians, somehow everyone manages to get along (for the most part). Over the course of the timeline, many other aliens are introduced. I was wondering if anyone had caused the introduction of new species to upset the balance of power in the region. This does not necessarily mean war. It could mean just enough to make things interesting. Likely candidates: Humma, S'sessu |
![]() October 27, 2014 - 12:20pm | RE: http://www.starfrontiers.us/node/7053 did some sketches of aquatic creatures recently and it got me thinking about Groth and the Nagana from the SFman. Kicking around doing a planetary breif (background for a referee), Cultural Perspectives (background for player choosing Groth as a home planet for his dralasite) and a smallish adventure. I'd like to detail at least 3 distinct environments on Groth. and write paragraphs on 3-4 locations (1. admin center &star port, 2. farming community or two, 3. Nagana Institute, 4. Vrusk colony ruins) I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
![]() October 24, 2014 - 11:32am | So... in my fledgling SF game I have their Assualt Scout, the UPFS Dart, equiped temporarily with two chem drives bolted to each atomic drive (above and below). I am reducing the MR and ADF by one from this mod. Currently I'm making the assertion that it is a common add-on for an AS, and that the drives on them are often produced with couplings for these attachements. The reason for this madness... is I didn't want to handwave the environmental impact of landing on a populated planet with atomic engines. ----------------------------------------------- |
![]() October 21, 2014 - 9:25am | Non standard or creative uses for common or oft overlooked equipment. Post below and no going over 101! I mean it or I will deploy a dralasite whoopie coushin. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
October 17, 2014 - 8:31am | I want to come up with a comprehensive list of all the canon Frontier timelines that exist. This includes not just the explicit timelines but the implied ones such as in SFKH0 and the statement that humans settled on Clarion 400 years ago. |
![]() October 13, 2014 - 4:27pm | Hydrogel was proposed here: http://www.starfrontiers.us/node/7134 its a gell that treats burns (any- lasers, fire etc) giving back +5 STA over any other medical treatment Invented by the eorna. I assume its usable by anyone and not just a medic or rather that any PC may self medicate with this. To my knowledge it has not made it into a magazine yet and If I can come up with at least 2 more medical items I'll do a Minzii Market place article Anyone have a new medical device, medicine or treatment? I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
![]() October 12, 2014 - 5:34am | Discussion about exploration ships at the SF-UN yahoo group got me thinking about this again. What makes a good exploration ship? I would contend that you want something bigger HS5-6 with a lander. Mother ship is ion powered, lander is atomic powered, total crew is not very big, around 20. ship has labs, med bay, storage (packed with supplies), hydroponics, workshops, vehicles and so on. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
