I have not been opposed to changing the setting a little when its called for- Earth exists for me, its just cut off from the Frontier and not in contact. Also mytime line project tackled a lot of continuity issues. However, I strove to make the changes that I made Zero Sum- in that the Frontier was still materially the same despite the change or to put it another way the change was in story not in number of space stations or militia ships or the colonist of a planet.

Government Done Right and in of all places, Mexico City? Now I'm sure there are still plenty of examples of corruption and bad government in Mexico to go around but this one thing deserves to be praised.

A landfill the size of 450 football fields closed in Mexico city and rubbish started piling up around the city and yet the citizens of Mixico City had little motivation to recycle. So the government opened a market where they would take paper, glass, plastic and aluminum in exchange for tokens that could be exchanged for locally grown food.

I'm in the midwest, so Sandy didn't affect me, but I was wondering how many east coast folks got hit.

My 6 year old told me yesterday that she wanted to be a scientist and bring a magnifying glass to the park to look at bugs.

    That got me thinking.

My Stepson had a BEAM Robotics book about 8 years ago and it seemed cool- we built one robot IIRC

I was think that, particularly for my 1o year old (11 in a few days) that BEAM robotics might be a cool thing to do here at the house- though I suspect I need to buy a new soldering iron.

I thought I'd pop in to announce this biggy for anyone that may be late on the news. George Lucas has sold the Star Wars franchise to Disney.

What do you think of them beans?

Anybody live near Champain, IL?  I'll be out there Nov 4th through the 8th for a conference.  It might be fun to get together and talk Star Frontiers.
