![]() February 3, 2013 - 3:27am | The Frontier's highest mountain Was walking home in bitter cold and spent time reviewing in my head an article I've been working on just to pass the time. So I'm curious, what might the geological process be that made Mt Spire so tall? Volcanism or plate techtronics? I checked for earth and the tallest volcanoe is only 22,000 fet and there are over 100 mountains over 23,000 feet with Everest being 29,000. However the trully tallest volcanoe if measured from the sea floor to its peak is taller than Mt Everest. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |

In the industrial age one of the requirements for a nation to be a major power is to be capable of producing your own weapons. Those nations with that capability consider it a matter of national security to retain it as it affords them a level of security and helps ensure their independence. Generally a nation will give preferential treatment to its own companies |
![]() January 24, 2013 - 7:07am | Tachton robotics developed a robotic attachment for standard interstellar cargo modules. The robotic brain controls rockets and massive chutes and can guide a cargo module down from orbit to a predetermined LZ Ideal for exploration missions when exploring a new planet make a combat roll based on the lvl 3 robot brain to see if the bot hits the LZ on a failed rolled use the grenade bounce table to determine direction and roll of 100's of meters, Kms, or 100s of Km away from LZ the module landed based on how bad the robot missed its roll. ![]() January 21, 2013 - 8:53am | What would be cool, if it existed, if someone had the ability to code it would be a utility program that would allow you to put in KHs stats for a ship and it would kick out Game sats on the programs required for that ships computer with their program level, the computer's total function points and level. ![]() January 16, 2013 - 8:04am | Creature brain storm thread here inspired by the Two to the head thread: a T.R.O.L.S. is the alphabet soup acrostic assigned to a creature discovered by the scout service on planet X. It stands for Total Regenetative Ongoing Laceration stitching. Now the creature should not look like a fantasy troll but but I'm opening the floor for ideas on what it might look like, if it should be intelligent, capabilities, ecology, biology etc. Even looking for better word to use in the TROLL acrostic. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
January 15, 2013 - 2:27pm | I have been thinking about merchant work in the SF game. I know that there was some effort to nail down a standard idea on the size/mass of a Standard Cargo Unit. But now I am curious about shipping and handling costs. It is assumed that big industry (Mega Corps) are shipping manufactured goods all over the frontier. However, I think that it would be prohibitive to manufacture an item and then launch it into orbit before shipping it through the void. |
January 4, 2013 - 1:55pm | Like the Police Action on Cygnus Omicron IX we are given very little information on what happened on Kdi-kit/Madderly's Star. Except this one had huge repurcussions. Here's what we know: 210PF Madderly's Star system discovered by Vrusk and Humans 205PF Madderly's Star system becomes a Human system after the freeworld revolution on Kdi-kit Kdikit (Madderly's Star) Sounds like a great job but where did you say we had to go? |
![]() January 4, 2013 - 10:43am | I just notice something as i was looking up the stats and description of an item of equipment I wanted to use in a PBP game. that its description did not make sense from todays perspective. So this thread is to post items you find a problem with and to discuss fixes and updates. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
December 30, 2012 - 5:30pm | As many of you know, we are working through a pbp game on the Network, going through some of the old modules, with some slight changes. I am interested in hearing ideas on what works best for pbp when the action starts, such as die roll conventions, etc. Best ways to integrate them, and work them in. Including best ways to address and handle xp awards, character advancement, and dividing responsibilities for keeping most recent characters posted current. Also interested in any house rules, or things you generally think makes a PbP engaging. These two yazarians and this vrusk walk into a bar... |
