![]() May 16, 2013 - 12:51pm | the owners of Old Crow models (which is not really producing miniatures right now) use to produce INAP miniatures in opaque and clear resin- I bought some- one in opaque and then 3 in clear resin of two different poses- one set of table top wargame rules called for using 3 markers within so many inches of each other to represent the position of the predator when in light shift camo field. At any rate I was thinking that the Frontier could use an INAP which stands for "Its Not A Predator". I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
![]() May 16, 2013 - 12:18am | I was thinking about the use of unmanned Fighters in the game. The logic is that a living pilot is a liability on a Fighter, as one would take too much space with a cockpit and life-support systems, the inability to deal with high-Gs, and it is a highly expendable position to begin with. So my idea is to mount a (level 3-5) robot in place of a pilot, and replace all that cockpit area with a nuclear bomb! Basically, this system would be an automated attack drone with self-destructive capability. |
![]() May 8, 2013 - 4:40pm | EDIT NOTE: I've renamed this thread based on the direction of discussion I've been perhaps watching too much Firefly because the kids have been playing it and perhaps spending too much time of late with my nose buried in the Stars Without Number rule set which is to a certain degree Firefly-ish. It has me thinking about the Frontier in less pollished terms more broken down and less connected where a lot less can be counted on. More Firefly-ish. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
![]() May 5, 2013 - 9:13am | In D&D 4.0 DMG 2 it discusses alternative rewards and suggested item components that let the players assemble and make their own magic item. its an interesting idea: So what if the players came across a copy of Galactic Technology magazine with an article about an scientist that developed a process to get better engine performance from atomic drives? They could opt to try to run down the NPC and see if their ship's drive could be modified to the process. naturally he'll want money and some items fetched to do this. ![]() May 4, 2013 - 4:31pm | In Alex Curylo's "Careers in Star Law" article from Dragon #91 he detailed how to start a beginning character in Star Law. There were some requirements for ability scores- four of the PC's ability scores had to be 5 pts above the racial averages and two of them had to be INT and LOG. Then the character got to add 5 pts to either STR or STA and to either DEX or RS due to continued training. Military PSA characters got two 5th level weapons skills, 2nd level martial arts, 1st level Demolitions I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
![]() April 30, 2013 - 8:51am | A dull brain wrought with things forgotten...-Shackspear In the Frontier we have the mysterious cybot- a cybernetic construct of living tissue and metal- one has to ask just what living tissue goes into a cybot? Science fiction has typically answered this with either a brain or as in the case of the Terminators- skin. I dont see much else making sense (not that either of the above options make much sense either). So what is the nature of the ill defined Frontier Cybot? I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
![]() April 30, 2013 - 5:23am | Working on a rules conversion got me thinking about starting equipment. The game doesn't give much. Heck even the first ever module stated that no one starts with a gun. The theory behind that is, as I understand it, that by starting the PCs so low it allows room for them to grow and it is a method of dealing with the power creep associated with the accumulation of technology. ![]() April 18, 2013 - 6:30pm | Hello all, I'm trying to work out costs for some standard ships, civilian, mercenary, military etc. I'm wondering if any of you all have got some costs you go with, that haven't already been published in the SFman or Frontier Explorer. These are ones I found in the quick reference in SFman #16. East Indiaman - 1,570,000 Explorer Class Hvy Scout - 2,007,600 Jump Tug - 3,621,000 |
![]() April 17, 2013 - 3:34pm | There are a lot of details that we know about Prengular from cannon material. I'm looking for input on how these known facts will impact the cultural perspective of the citizens of Prengular. Its the Hub of the Frontier geographically, economically, perhaps socially (though that could be debated in favor of the headquarters of Star Play I suppose), militarily, and governmentaly. 2 mega corps headquartered here: PGC and Galactic Task Force Council of Worlds Star Law headquaters is here (training acad is one planet away) I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
![]() April 13, 2013 - 3:06pm | So Issue 4 of Frontier Explorer has hit and presumably some of you have had a chance to read it. Perhaps you noticed the the article on Morgaines World which is a "cultural perspective" What exactly is a cultural perspective? Its sort of a planetary brief from the player's side of the gaming table. It deals with all the same information as a planetary brief but is not concerned with the things a referee is concerned with ie whats there, what might happen there and rooting and grounding an adventure there. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
