The wife and I watched the movie "Elysium" this week.  Good movie.  A bit on the gory side (too much for my wife), so it's not one I'll be taking the kids to see, but I enjoyed the story and the visuals very much.  In fact, my wife said that if it were not for the gore, she would consider it a Great Movie.

I agree.  It has the feel of greatness.  One of those movies that becomes a classic.

    I highly recommend it.

I just stumbled upon this and thought I'd stop in and share. Look familiar? They think they're being original.

    Hi folks.

Just wanted to let you know that I had a stroke last year, which is why you haven't heard from me.

They say it was a major stroke, and that I am very lucky to have made a full recovery.  It sure took a while.  Had to use a cane for a few months.

Anyway, expect to see me around the boards again!

Reputedly inspiration for Alien. It is however totally Star Frontiers. Nuclear powered rockets that land tale first, conventional weapons: grenades, semi automatic pistols and rifles, gas grenades, gas masks, magnetic shoes for walking down the side of the ship, vertical deck layout. As for inspiration for Alien: unstopable alien monster initially using air ducts to move around and kill crew. Seemingly impervious to conventional weapons, and in the end blasted out the air lock by a desperate crew.

I'm most of the way into House of Steel, a new David Weber, et al., collection. The primary element is a novella of King Roger III's life, which ends almost 20 years before the HH novels start.

Just caught this movie 25 years after it debuted. Sorry that I missed it at the time as I enjoyed it and James Caan in it, you clearly needed a bad arse like him to deliver it straight and keep the movie from been too wonky.

Funny I thought the girl playing Cassandra sounded a lot like Sigourny Weaver but it turns out it wasn't her playing an alien
