There is a passing reference in KH as to how with modern construction techniques and miniaturization it is possible to surpass the limits of the canon rules (regarding ship construction).

That got me to thinking.  Isn't that generally true for technology?  Some are as archaic as dinosaurs and others are bleeding-edge.  How to quantify this for the game?

I've started roughing out a few ideas.  Keep in mind this is VERY WIP  at this point:

    ARCHAIC
    Mass:         +45%
    Capability:     -45%
    Cost:         GM discretion

What was different about them was that instead of using predetermined HS and trying to wiggle in what you wanted, you selected modules of features that you wanted then the worksheet determined hull size from there.

The sheet tended to make sizes larger than those given in KH, and IIRC would calculate for sizes above 20.

Does that ring any bells with anyone?

Mentalism and Gama Dawn mutations are both optional add on. The only way to balance these for all characters is that all players must opt in with a "me too".

I just had an idea for possibly balancing these: in Middle Earth Role Playing the character creation process include 5 (I forget what they were called) character points. A player could spend these for extra money, an entry level magic item, better stats, more skill, etc

So let's say that we port this concept to SF?

Campaign seed: PCs are crew of the first interstellar ship launched by light sail and laser with a fussion rocket for decel at the other end. They cone out of cryo only to discover that in the intervening decades more efficient interstellar drives were discovered and there is a dysfunctional dystopian colony already established where they expected to be the first.

The colony was established by those forced to leave the  solar system against their will, criminals both civil and political. There is a powerful cadre in control.

I'm making a 3D model of the laser pistol in the Alpha Dawn basic rule book.   There appears to be a switch at the top of the grip where the thumb could slide it towards the trigger.  I believe this is the safety switch.  To the right of this switch is another possible switch or lever at the top of the grip and just under the round knobby thing at the back of the gun.  What is this thing / lever / switch?

Also where is the SEU clip on thus gun?  Is it the long round knobby thing at the back of the gun?

From Portugal, we get this constructed feature, a spillway for a dam. But imagine it as an entrance to an underground grotto. Your chasing a sathar to prevent him from warning his buddies and he slithers into a lake and down a hole like this, do you follow?

A sathar freighter would be a useful ship for the setting.

    Stats, deck plan, image/pic, 1/4" X 1/4" counter, even a miniature.

(I was working on a KHs encounter and realized I needed stats for a sathar freighter).

    Your thoughts?

I know that the notes on Clarion say that there is "liitle demand for the burnable products of petrolium", but stop to consider:

Clarion is as close to the perfect generator of petroleum as a planet could get.  Millions of continuous years  of planet-wide vegetable matter would result in untold trillions of cubic feet (or more) of oil reserves.  And that's not counting natural gas that also forms in oil reserves.

Came across this is one of my trade magazines.  I would love it if these were real tours.  I would go on the Jupiter baloon tour.

It would be fun to have some of these type of posters for locations in the Frontier.  They could even be published in the Frontier Explorer as full page adds.

    >Star Ships only need their fluids changed every 2000 light years.
    >Star Ships' curves never sag.
I'm not overly fond of Zeb's Guide...nor do I have any qualms stating why. Tongue out
