    General Announcement

I was asked by http://www.colonialchrome.co.uk/ to remove several images that are not in the public domain. I'm in the process of working with our users to have them removed.

Use the following markup to add content from others areas of the site in your posts.

    <<node,xxxx>>

Where xxxx is the node number. The node number can be found in your browsers address bar. For instance, this node is 4415

I've been looking at other social networking sites around the web.  Sure, some have snazzy flash graphics consuming bandwidth.  Sure some are better for single guys to "pick up chicks"... but this site is pretty unique.

I see nothing to permit editing my profile front page, just an icon to report it.

    EDIT --- and the damned link issue resurfaced again...now it's a two-fer.

So the site got hacked somtime in the middle of the night.  He deleted all the files.  The good news is that I had a backup.  The bad news is it was from Friday, May 21st.  It looks like nothing in the database was lost so all the text of the comments and changes to pages were saved but any files uploaded since the 21st were lost.  Just a heads up.

So now I can't even access this site without switching to "incognito" mode on Google Chrome. Which means I have to log in each and every time (which is nothing new to me, as I was already forced by the site into doing that on the regular browser). I get the "503 Service Temporarily Unavailable" message on both the SF.us and SF.info links.

Just giving everyone a heads up that in the very near future (by Monday, Feb 24, 2020 at the latest), I'll be moving this site over to the new server.  I might get to it today but probably not.

This is the last of my websites to migrate. I've already moved starfrontiers.info and almost everything went fine.  The only thing that broke there were the blogs funcationality that no one has used in ages.

Contiuing the off-topic discussion from this thread:

I, too, prefer this site (and forum sites in general) for many of the reasons already mentioned: organization (mostly - current side discussion not withstanding), depth of discussion and ability to format responses instead of a single large paragraph, search ability, visibility, and most of all permenance.

Okay, I have a new poll up related to the new site.

I can configure the main forum page to either just show the five main forums as it is now and keep the project forums in their respective projects.  Or in addition to have the project forums in the project, make the forums for the projects you are a member of visible on the main forum page.  Do you have a preference?  Follow the link below to vote.
