I've always imagined bowl shaped chairs and beds for dralasites.  The edges are curved over so that there are no sharp edges to climb over.  Lots of round objects and other curved shapes that are comfortable to conform the body to.

Agreed. Their environment must be smooth, contoured lines. I imagine them as a blob when they sleep, or a puddle of relaxation.

Nice turn of phrase: "the puddle of relaxation"
have to remember that one.

As sleep is a period of time when a being is unprotected and since it takes several minutes for a Dralasite to grow limbs. I have thought of the ancient Dralasites spreading out like starfish on the ground, ready to leap up when danger gets close. As they modernized the sleep pattern did not change.

Given that their skin is very tough and very sensitive to smell, I picture their bed and bedding as a large circular shape with a hard surface. For covering, odor blocking materials that can still breath are prefered and pillows are not needed.

I would also like to think "Mom" wakes everyone up by cooking a very strong smelling breakfast to entice everyone out of bed.

We shall NOT discuss the PGC line of foul smelling chronocom alarm clocks used by some Dralasites and know among the other races as fart clocks.
Sounds like a great job but where did you say we had to go?

Fart clocks were first developed as a means of rousing those dralasites that are not morning drals. It since has penetrated the market for practical jokes particularly on human colonies. Fart clock alarm 10 Cr refill cartridge 3 Cr.

I like the idea of ancient drals sleeping with limbs as a protection.  Biology would not force this and many modern drals press in debates that there are benefits to the body and soul to sleeping unshaped.  Others promote sleeping in a "bed" that shapes the body into a spiritual form, a cube, a sphere, etc. which represents perfection.  Or fluid shapes are used to inspire the soul to new forms and enlighten the mind.

All good ideas: I'm proposing a medical condition that causes a dralasite to unshape when sleeping or unconscious whether he wants that or not. The negative effect is that he needs 10 minutes to reshape each limb one at a time upon returning to normal activity.

Wow, it takes such a dralasite an hour to get out of bed in the morning.  Really relaxed man!

Would it be a natural state or a serious medical condition for Dralasites to reshape in their sleep?

Say they are dreaming of running from a Sathar attack and when they wake up they have all legs and no arms. Which way is this interpreted?
Sounds like a great job but where did you say we had to go?

I would go medical condition.  I think it would be a matter of survival for them to maintain form while resting.  Otherwise they become vulnerable for long periods of time where they could be (semi-)defensless.  I could see them going formless voluntarily but I think it would require conscious effort.
