The problem with the game is....

I need to vent a little:

I play games to have fun but this game is rigged to let people be arrogant bullies and push people around because they can.

You can never catch the leaders because the bar gets moved by the game admin- which is somethign he has to do because he's making money and he cannot afford to let some of the accounts stagnate- he has to keep everyone challenged. You can of course catch up by spending lots of money and playing 24/7

It a time sink without a pay off.

I'm wondering right now what I'm doing in this game. I was just going to hit a high value property of a lower level PL player because I could and he'd have to take it because his PL is not even in shouting distance of mine- that would make me a bully and I dont really like that. Somehow its different if were all sitting around a table playing risk and I knock you out to take your cards and get yet another trade in that lets me knock another player out and take his cards as its really just a friendly game and I'm certainly not being an arrogant cocksure bastard, "Telling people, Do you know who I am?" Its just a game and the next one I'm just as likely to lose.

I suppose I'm asking the question, "why do I want to play this game?"
I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers!

There is an addiction level to this game.  I just want to play to some level of success, but everytime I get close the bar gets raised.  I like the space empire, exploration, and build themes so I stick around for that because I do not have another game to satisfy those needs better.

I've just come to a moment where I realized something about the game and if I knew what I know now about this game the day I joined I would have never gotten involved in it. The Witch of it is that I have a lot invested in the stupid thing. I'm really disenchanted with it and with myself about it.

Sounds like we are starting a group therapy thread here.  Tongue out

If a game were to be found or written to replace this one I vote for more exploration, the ability to define and defend territories, and true NPC adversaries.  This game fails in all of these.  Exploring is going to the next world which is just like the last.  This game has not territories.  The universe is homogenized, everyone is mixed together and you can not defend a boundary because you can just fly through it.  Finally the aliens are a weak excuse for an NPC adversary.  They do not fight back nor hold worlds.  Also the anonymous stations do not do anything to grow and become worth more to a higher power level player.

Last thought.  The trade function is not well designed or implemented.

NPC adversaries are always problematic in a computer game. Sounds like iggy is describing something like Civ 4  but with sci fi theme
