Idea: what about cuneiform as a model for written vrusk? Cuneiform was written with a wedge shaped stylus and the pattern of wedge impressions represented words and syllables. What if during the hive era writing for the vrusk was invented in much the same way except the vrusk used their finger tips to make impressions in clay tablets. Later it evolved into a true writing style.

Because of the radial design of a vrusk hand a vrusk scribe would bring his fingers together in combinations and patterns to imprint the clay with just the tips. Or he could just use the tip of one finger like a human scribe would have used a cuneiform stylus. In fact both styles (using all fingers or using just one) could represent different ancient scripts.

I actually have something like this that I did a year or so ago trying to make a vrusk phonetic alphabet.  It is based off of the left and right hand finger positions.  I'll dig it up and scan it.
