Confused and Complicated politics of Madderly's Star

I've actually set up a situation in my timeline for a tricky situation in Madderly's Star. Clarion and Minotaur colonies set up a joint venture to expand agricultural production to fuel their growth and part of the aggreement is that neither world would control the ag colonies, they'd be self governing and the F.A.R.M. board would administer them in the early days. Lossend colony was set up first and became a big success.

Madderly's Star was delayed repeatedly and especially when radio signal was detected from the vrusk and dralasites. In the excitement of meeting not one but two star faring races Madderly's star was delayed yet again in favor of setting up a joint colony in Cassidine named in honor of the 3 races meeting peacefully and seeking peaceful co-existance, called Triad. By the time the FARM board was ready to push the Madderly's Star colony plan forward a vrusk company had made a move to become a conglomerate and beat them to the punch by colonizing Kdi-kit in Madderly's Star.

The human colonist from Clarion and Minotaur showed up and initially all was good since the since the vrusk conglomerate Naar had invested in infrastructure which benefited them greatly. Naar was in control of the new colony and Clarion and Minotaur had an agreement that they were both hands off.

I wont review the causes of the Rebellion here, there in the timeline, but with a plethora of commitees of rebellion springing up and one committee becoming the dominant umbrella group that the others report to the human colonist make a front of becoming the new self determining government on Kdi-kit.

Word of the atrocities reaches Clarion and the King orders a military intervention. This strains the relationship between Clarion and Minotaur as the leaders of Minotaur wonder if this is a move by Clarion to take control of Kdi-kit. After all Clarion is a monarchy and that's just as good as a dictatorship from the point of view of a pure hearted democracy.

So while the Crown has determined to end the blood shed and preserve the peace with the new interstellar neighbors, the vrusk and the dralasites, but there is pressure to not "conquor" Kdi-kit. Hatzk Naar expects that the RM will pacify the colony and return it to its control. there are political considerations back in Fromeltar that preclude anyone lifting a digit to help Naar. Minotaur wants Clarion out of Madderly's star ASAP. and the human colonist, many of whom, only recently were citizens of Clarion and Minotaur have formally taken citizenship in Kdi-kit (issued by the Naar conglomerate).

So the long and short is that politics will ensure that Clarion's involvement in Kdi-kit will be short and the rebells will prevail- which incidently gets us exactly what we got in the modern SF setting.
I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers!

there will be a variety of committees the spring up in the various farming communities with one umbrella organization.

Committee Against Human Persecution: CAHP
Committee for the Advancement of Human Rights: CAHR
Humans for a Free World (from vrusk)? HFW
Free World Rebellion Committee? FWRC

My favorite is Committee Against Vrusk Exploitation: CAVE
This group will be one of the ones committing war crimes, it uses the word "Spelunking" as a code word for assembling a group of vrusk and killing them. Tempted to use a large cave as the location of one of these attrocities.

Could there be a Dralasite population, too, no matter how small? Caught in the middle, or are they also employees of the Naar corporation?

Could one of them be suspected of double-dealing both sides? How does a human tell them apart, anyway?

I hadn't planned on that but it could be a possibility, I just hadn't seen the vrusk companies being integrated with drals at this point; probably more of the corporate "hive" structure still in play but the idea of a small community of dralasites on Kdi-kit has merit. It certianly ensures that the core 4 are all in play in this.

New thought on the viceroy, perhaps he planned to seize the robotic factories and other assets of the vrusk. ordering military assets to secure them when there is no military justification for doing so.

That would work for a clue to the PCs that Something Is Up, but only after they put it together with another clue or two.
