A History of Terra and The Solar Alliance by Professor Anjuman Chaterju, Faculty of Alien Studies, Ceta University, Ceta (Tau Ceti II)

0: Introduction

Of the worlds in Known Space, Terra is one of the most influential homeworlds of any species. This work, in its abbreviated format, represents the most comprehensive document of latter-day humanity.

The following is a condensation of Professor Chaterju's complete report. The full 1024-page report, translated in over 1276 languages, is available at the Ceta University, Alien Studies Department.

0.1: Note On Dating

All dates in the following document have been translated into Terran date reckoning. This document was published, initially, in 2801C.E.. Current condensed version prepared in 2804C.E. - two years before Professor Chaterju's death.

0.2 Note On Historical Accuracy

This work is as accurate as humanly possible. The Dark Age after the Great Catastrophe resulted in many of Old Earth's records being destroyed or severely altered by Promised Land doctrine. The few surviving records were recovered from colony worlds which preserved what they could. Information was also recovered from harmonic conventional radio and television broadcasts picked up by ships and planetary civilizations as the signals traveled through space at light speed.
