Ok, so while working on most of my vehicle stuff I usually have the tv on for background noise. Usually, it's the military channel. They have some great shows on all types of weaponry(top 10 lists and such). I was toying with the idea of using my Heroscape tiles as a 3-d battlefield layout and watching something on the siege at Khe San and had an idea for artillery. Assuming you want a d10 system to mesh with the current system, and possible the new game I read about, it goes like this:
The artillery has a base chance to "to hit" in the middle of a 2-20(2d10) range.
(for example we will use 9-14 equals a hit)
if a hit, damage is dealt however we figure that part out lol
However, if a miss--used the random miss for a grenade and every 1 or 2 points off is the range and direction the shells fall. Thus, the shells hit something, for better or worse.
ok random thought captured, what do you think?

HEROSCAPE !!!!
I love that game.
Here is some of my custom work I gave out for prizes on National Heroscape Day.

I like your idea about Artillery.
I'm working on a new spaceship combat game this is character driven. % to hit is based on skills. A basic Ground Hawks game could have simple tables, as you suggested. The advanced game would be based on "crew quality", skills and commander effects.

Grenade Bounce table is a great idea.

nice work w00t, the water map looks cool. anyways, my idea for a military campaign came from running my son on a solo campaign. i need a way to have a volturnus like war with him roleplaying certain aspects of the warzone he was in. i'm glad i ran across your project here i figured i could get a little insight on it. too many ideas, too little time. i almost have a decent guide for regular vehicles so i figure i'll move on to the full military ones soon. a few adjustments to the cavary article and we can have a military vehicle guide too. tanks and planes and bombs o my....
