Imperial Lord April 14, 2008 - 9:06pm | I can't open your file for some reason. It just lists it as an unclickable link. So just provide your speeds, facings, and final hex locations until things get juicy. |
Imperial Lord April 14, 2008 - 9:08pm | UPF stands pat - all ships facing SE. Your move, Turn 8. |
TerlObar April 14, 2008 - 9:24pm | That's wierd, I can't open it either. The other files I uploaded all seem to work fine so I'm not sure what is going on. I even deleted it completely and tried creating a whole new entry and it still didn't work. That is really strange. Anyway, here are the speeds (repeated from above) and facings at the end of turn 7 Fighter in hex 0505 - 30 (0 ADF, 5 MR) - W Fighter in hex 0304 - 25 (0 ADF, 5 MR) - W Fighter in hex 0920 - 27 (5 ADF, 3 MR) - W Fighter in hex 0123 - 34 (1 ADF, 5 MR) - SW Fighter in hex 0121 - 30 (5 ADF, 5 MR) - SW Fighter in hex 0833 - 27 (5 ADF, 3 MR) - NW Main groups (in 1023 and 0921) - facing NW You may change your move if you desire. TerlObar April 14, 2008 - 9:33pm | If you want to see the map you can get it here: http://cid-b3626366cddb8d3f.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/SSW/dramune2.png since I can't seem to post it here on the site. Imperial Lord April 15, 2008 - 7:12am | Sorry, I meant to say all of the ships are facing SW. You may continue with your move. Turn 8. Of course, the Armed Station rotates to its new position. |
Imperial Lord April 15, 2008 - 7:13am | My own nifty Excel map works great, but I can't upload it. Maybe because it is over 2.2 MEG... |
w00t (not verified) April 15, 2008 - 8:18am | Impy won't use anything but "PIMP" so GIMP is just out of the question~ (I use *and love* GIMP) |
Imperial Lord April 15, 2008 - 8:22am | Well Larry - I can't d/l it at work anyway. Gotta wait till later in any case. |
TerlObar April 15, 2008 - 2:01pm | Sorry, Imperial Lord, you're not going to like this one but our strategy and tactics dictate this as our next move. But first a story to go with the manuever: Aboard the UPFS Admiral Harsevoort, holding it's position about 60,000 km from Darkworld Station, a communications officer contacts the Admiral commanding Task Force Cassidine. "Sir, we have a radio transmission being directed our way from the Sathar fleet." "Patch it through son, let's see what the worms have to say. Maybe they're surrendering. I doubt it but one can always hope." The message comes through, albiet with a bit of static and a lot of lisp, "Greetingssss, ssincsse you all ssseem to be in an Ixiol induccced ssstupor and too disssoriented to fight, we will be leaving you to your pleasssuresss and continuing on our way. It would ssseem that drug producccing ssstation isss of greater benefit to usss intact than dessstroyed. Enjoy your wait for our sssissster fleet that isss coming your way. Maybe you will be more awake then." With that the transmission ends. There is stunned silence on the bridge which is finally broken by a thunderous "WHAT!!!!" from the Admiral followed by a command for more information. "Radar, give me a scan of the Sathar vessels, what are they doing?" A few moments pass while the radar operators verify their data. Then comes the response: "Sir, the Sathar main fleets have turned west away from the station and are accelerating at two gravities. The fighters are currently maintaining their high speeds and flying racetrack holding patterns around the main groups. They appear to be headed for Cassidine, sir." Meanwhile, aboard the Sathar vessels, the high command discuss their plans. "Well, that won't work nexsst time. I don't think they exsspected usss to jussst ignore them." "Yesss. I believe they thought they were going to ssstop ussss. We will be ready for them in the nexssst sssysstem assss well." In game terms, The two main groups fly forward 1 hex, turn W, accelerate to speed 13 using 2 ADF and bug (or as w00t put it, slither) out. That puts them 4 (for the top group) and 3 (for the bottom group) hexes of the map. The fighers will also leave the map and form up around the main group. If you want exact paths I'll provide them. Does the UPF wish to pursue? The BB, HC, AC and the two ML can't catch us. Everyone else has the option. It's your move. Ad Astra Per Ardua! Imperial Lord April 15, 2008 - 2:11pm | Actually let me just talk this over with Gilbert, but I am 99% sure that is what we are doing. Your retreat will have you going back to Fromeltar or will you be back in the star system just floating around? |
TerlObar April 15, 2008 - 2:14pm | We are headed out to Cassidine Ad Astra Per Ardua! My blog - Expanding Frontier Webmaster - The Star Frontiers Network & this site Founding Editor - The Frontier Explorer Magazine Managing Editor - The Star Frontiersman Magazine |
Imperial Lord April 15, 2008 - 2:16pm | No no no - you cannot "retreat" and go forward to Cassidine! |
TerlObar April 15, 2008 - 2:36pm | We didn't retreat, we bypassed the station. In this strategic turn we had a battle. We entered the map, flew all the way across it unmolested, and escaped from the battle. The "Breaking Off Combat" rules just state that the fleeing ships are placed in a transit box adjacent to the star system. Our choices are Fromeltar or Cassidine, we chose Cassidine. It doesn't say it has to be the one they came from. If the militia had run they would get to pick which way they went. Why can't we? Ad Astra Per Ardua! My blog - Expanding Frontier Webmaster - The Star Frontiers Network & this site Founding Editor - The Frontier Explorer Magazine Managing Editor - The Star Frontiersman Magazine |
w00t (not verified) April 15, 2008 - 2:43pm | We flew around the system, you didn't pursue, we can head out any direction to reach Cassidine. Right? I'll have to look up the rules for leaving the MAP! |
Imperial Lord April 15, 2008 - 6:04pm | No pursuit Hope your crew gets the runs from all that cowardice... |
