![]() January 16, 2010 - 7:44am | I can no longer find the FrontierSpace server? Is the project still going on? |
January 15, 2010 - 9:36am | A subject that has caught my attention recently is the posthuman and transhuman movements. Both of these are inter-related, in that once the "transhuman singularity" has been acheived, we will be in the posthuman era. Fascinating stuff. if you're not familiar with the subjects, I suggest you look it up, but in brief - transhumanism is the idea of using nanotechnology, biotech and genetic engineering to enhance, modify and create "perfect" humans. These ubermen would be "posthuman". Like I say, that is how I understand it, in a nutshell. Long live the Frontier! |
January 15, 2010 - 9:24am | I've been doing a lot of reading lately (unemployment will do that). Two authors have really got me thinking about SF; John Scalzi and Allen Steele. Their books deal with interstellar colonization, first contact and the difficulties humans might face once leaving Earth (as well as the challenges of a future Earth). This has gotten me thinking about the early days of Frontier expansion - I'm currently working on an article for StarFrontiersman on the Cassidine system as a result. I highly recommend these authors (the books are "Old Man's War", "the Ghost Brigades" a Long live the Frontier! |
![]() December 19, 2009 - 11:34pm | I was serious about the spoiler- Item #1. There is a value to seeing it in 3D- I'm sure 2D will be very awesome but treat yourself to a viewing in an IMAX theatre. Item #2. I would be willing to bet James Cameroon played Star Frontiers back in the day as the movie upon second reflection is a "rip off" of the Volturnus Campaign Not in every detail but close enough to resemble it. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
![]() December 19, 2009 - 10:40pm | I spend alot of time looking around the web for silly things some times I come up with some cool hits. So I like to share one with you folks. Gold is for the mistress-silver for the maid-copper for the craftsman cunning at his trade. But Iron-Cold Iron- is master of them all |
![]() December 14, 2009 - 8:45am | parriah submitted a very cool article he wrote based off the "Yacht and
Privateers" article in Dragon #88. It inspired me to start a project I've had on the back
burner -- remastering past articles that appeared in Ares, Dragon,
Imagine and Polyhedron. My initial thought was to submit them to the webzine. When their all complete I can provide a single PDF download of all articles. What do you all think? Yacht and Privateers is finished Any help would be appreciated. :-) |
![]() December 12, 2009 - 6:18pm | Thought I'd start a thread to open the floor for discussing the various things in issue 13 as apposed to the news thread. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
![]() November 28, 2009 - 1:51pm | As you know Issue 13 is two weeks behind. I've been waiting for our artist to finish up their tasks. I was expecting art by Thanksgiving but have not received it yet. Part of what makes a great issue is the artwork. Once I get the art I'll pop it into the Issue send it off to Bill and we'll put it on the site. |
![]() November 26, 2009 - 5:43pm | Just a shout out to all the SFers here, wishing a Happy Thanksgiving! It's clear/sunny and 68º here, just got back from a brisk ride and will be firing up the grill soon for the annual "Shack Surf & Turf" Thanksgiving Feast. |
![]() November 15, 2009 - 5:12pm | So, if a ship is going 1% of C and the engines fail. Will it remain in Void sapace? At least I got to scare an alien rabbit thingy...... |
