Rewatching Predator today and musing about how small the premise is: mercenary team recruited for a plausible deniability mission to cross a border and recover a "cabinent minister" from some rebels. Meanwhile an alien predator is hunting for trophies and bad stuff ensues.

Arguably Predator has been a huge entertainment property spawning multiple movie series: both the the Predator series and the AVP series (I consider them separate entities), comic books and novels.

It seems like the science fiction (SF) genre of RPG offers an aspiring GM more options for creating a campaign than the typical fantasy RPG.  A typical SF universe offers advanced technology and advanced social structures giving the GM more options for varied challenges.  Technology allows PCs to realistically move easily between varied settings while the social structure makes political intrigue or corporate wars easier to do as well. The PCs can always go off and explore a lost civilization or uncharted planet whenever an old fashioned dungeon crawl is desired.

Don't want to ruin a perfectly good SF role playing site, and at the risk of boring all who read this, I wanted to post re: this song. This particular song has intrigued me since I was a teen. It was on the flip side of a hit (you're my best friend) and was never played on the radio at the time as far as I know.

Sometimes you watch sci fi and there is future tech that seems little more than magic. I loved Star Trek but it very much was in that vein especially when TNG came along.

For instance take the replicators: you simply told the computer to whip up a glass of Earl Gray, hot and whalla it appeared just like that.

Just saw this picture on DA. i suspect that a bow would work in space but would also be prone to start a firer spinning if he was not locked down.

It also reminded me the novel Semper Mars where US space marines tossed beer cans at opponents which exploded on impact and froze on the face plates of the enemy giving the marines a tactical advantage.

anyone else have any unconventional methods of killing your fellow space traveller?

Has anyone thought about making "Digitally Remastered" versions of Gamma World editions 1st to 4th, like with Star Frontiers? (possibly even complete Alternity and Omega World editions)

If you poke around you will find some criticism of the idea of Dyson Sphere, such as rising levels of heat and other radiation trapped within the sphere and the lack of enough material in a solar system to build one and so on.

What if you scaled it down to just be a planet that was encased in a dyson sphere? It would reduce the complexity of the structure by several orders of magnitude.

I scored a vintage electric train set at a yard sale for $5 (and subsequently spent $40 on plywood and nails) and made a new Christmas tree base. I had an electrical quirk after setting everything up, fortunately we still have a Radio Shack nearby to match up vintage electronic bits. Now I'm contending with a cat that likes to chase the caboose...

    Let's see those trees!

I'm not overly fond of Zeb's Guide...nor do I have any qualms stating why. Tongue out

Does anyone have a complete PDF or copy of Polyhedron #16, 17? I am working on a compilation of the "Dispel Confusion" and both of my PDF copies are missing pages. Specifically the rest of the Star Frontiers Q & A..
