Dr Who (Pirate Planet)... Robot Parot for the pirate captain, sure a cliche, but I am thinking fun.

Also Future Space Parots... could be a variety of weird critters GMO mutant parrots, alien life form versions.

Check out the domesticated miniature wyvole in SFman #15. A yazirian pirate captain would have this riding his shoulder. They have a fierce loyalty to their "pack leader" and everyone else is likely to lose a finger. This creature, if riding on a yazirian's shoulder, could launch itself into a gliding attack (yazirians' are taller) which would be very possible at point blank and maybe even short range. If the wyvole thought the opponent was a threat or at a sign from his owner it will attack. The owner would or should get a +1 initiative modifier for the fact that a sudden attack by this creature would stun/distract/surprise.

I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers!

Also, tailor made for this is the flute flutter in FE #2 "Digging in the Dust of Laco" there are 62 varieties of the avian life from Laco known as the Flute flutter with generic stats provided. I only detailed 3 of them so you could fee free to create a flutter parrot.

The flute hawk flutter was created as an adventure pet. It's an unusual variety of this species in that it has an attack. A pirate would love to have a trained one of these.

Is there a miniature version of this creature? Arboreal and native to the forest? Tamed? Domesticated?

An intriguing possibility for an adventure pet.

Flinx had his Alspinian minidragon.  A friend of mine had a D&D character with a pseudodragon familiar.  Both were running around in my mind.  What's to say there isn't some smaller creature on Lossend that can be domesticated that is a bit losodragon like.  I wouldn't make it nearly as fierce as a losodragon but would play on similarities and coolness factor.  Humans would definitely domestic a dragon like creature that is as safe as a dog to own.

Subject for a Jurack article?

I've always favored Scraaks and Flitters.
I'm not overly fond of Zeb's Guide...nor do I have any qualms stating why. Tongue out

Scraaks and Flitters are cool.  However, I try to spread things around the frontier and not use Volturnus much.  Volturuns already has a disproportionate representation in cannon and fan material.

You really can't blame them considering that Volturnus is the closest thing to a fully developed world in the game, which is made ironic due to the fact that it is also the only one not part of the (original game) UPF either.

I was going to mention that Krataar was pretty well developed too, but there is no mention of flora or fauna in that adventure.

My assessment of well developed worlds in SF is heavily weighted on flora and fauna.   I'd like to get to a point where I  could characterize each world with its own flora and fauna type so that any given creature or plant has characteristics you can identify that would point to which world it likely originated from.

Oh, I agree. I've came up with some flora and fauna ideas for Kraatar under the Dark Side of the Moon project. See: http://starfrontiers.us/node/9143
