I did a picture a while back of an armored fish with one eye:

and I thought that doing up a whole ecology of creature all with one eye would be a worthy effort which could lead to a planetary report for a new planet and ecosystem for player characters to visit.

this lead to the cycolpian lambrey:

Recently I got inspired to actually begin a "whole earth ecology" treatment of this .

Do you think the Heliopes used by the Clikk might be more cybernetically enhanced by the time of the  Frontier?

For example, the ones on Starmist have the prehensile tail that they can't use for an attack, but it has a nasty looking stinger.

The clikks might have altered their heliopes so the stinger can actually be used to strike at an opponent like the tail on a Xenomorph.

Cybernetically? No were talking about generations of heliopes and generation 1 started out with a brain wipe. They have only primitive tech and limited scavenged klikk tech.

Heliopes as an advanced race, now there is a thought...or at least at our tech level circa 1970.

The ones on Starmist could have been modififed.

If we accept Brainwipe, then that also implies other sorts of mental mulipulation is possible, for instance programomg the indivdual to be a pacisfist instead of violent. So they could have had it programed out of them culturally.

On the otherhand it is possable that the logic was the Heliiopes where evolving and as the brain gets bigger your species gets weaker idea. So the tail becomes less useful.

Pruposeful breeding by Klikks to produce less problamatic slaves.

Use it or loose it theory of evolution in nature, if your group no longer needs something sometimes it just sorts of goes away over time.
