Basically your dead if you're hit by this.
I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers!

Pretty much. GW is pretty deadly even at it's most comic.

There is a small chance with immediate medical assistance you can make it... but it is a double barrel of radioactive death beam, designed by the "ancients" to kill people, war androids, war cyborgs & war robots.

So in GW is should be rare and a weapon of last resort.

Yes. It should be rare. Very rarely would you have a ref give out a fully charged one... and once that battery is used up it is pretty useless. So usually it is either a weapon the PCs are trying not to be shot with or it is in the adventure as a way of helping them survive situation x (which is probably pretty nasty). In GW survival depends alot on collecting Ident/Security cards and alot of batteries and not being rash or stupid. There are saves in GW even for this nasty that would be #18 radiation medicine, with luck you only end up mutated.

The way 1st Ed GW worked for figuring to hit was AC of target cross referenced with the Weapon's combat number and then any modifiers applied... when I crunched best case to hit % on just the matrix no modifiers it worked out to 50%chance to hit the easiest AC.

Now the PCs in GW don't exactly have skills in beam weapons and they have to figure it all out. But it could be that the weapon is a bit hard to handle or aim precisely as well. So I am thinking I need to try and figure out how to reflect this 50% hit ratio for SF next.
