there are various other attempt to create a Starcraft RPG campaign using various rules; D6 and i believe Savage Worlds
re: http://starcraftd6.tripod.com/

My question is how would you do it with Star Frontiers rules?

Some ideas:

1. introduce one or both of the Starcraft alien species into the Frontier: minimal work in that you'd leave the Frontier as is and simply indrocue the Zerg with the Protoss pursuing them.

2. Use the Starcraft setting and set it some distance from the Frontier and allow the PCs to travel there with/or without the possibility of easy communication/travel with the Frontier: more work in that you need to work up stats and such for human tech/units that differ from existing SF tech. Certainly the movable buildings of Starcraft suggests anti-grav and any PC who doesn't see the profit potential for aquiring and bringing back this tech to the Frontier deserves a EXP penalty. Lots of possibilities to go off script here.

And the story line from Starcraft 2 with the Terrans from Earth showing up and acting all imperial could be used in the Frontier proper as well. No doubt the Imperial terrans would be surprised by a highly organized and mature Frontier sector and would look for a way to smash it so that they can recreate it in their image. Enter a deal with the devil: the zerg. Followed by the Protoss coming to continue with their mission to eradicate the zerg. You dont need the sathar for this but...

Core 4 + protoss would be natural allies and Imperial Terrans playing fast and loose with the zerg as opposition

sathar/zerg connections could be interesting feature

3. Use the Starcraft setting and completely ignore the SF setting ie the STarcraft setting is all there is: Again you need the data on 3 species and their worlds, tech and so on for this- roughly its the same ammount of work as option 2 but the game timeline/ story should inform the campaign
I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers!

4th Option: simple introduction/conversion of Starcraft material for using in the SF setting, like spider mines would be a good equipment item to introduce into SF. Spider mines are ideal for a referee to use against the PCs.

5th option?

been thinking aobut this again and dont see how to not include artificial gravity for the terran buildings in a straight up conversion

also the presence of Star Frontiers robots kind of changes things a little.

I think its simply easier to just add on things from Star Craft like the zerg borrow some story lines and move on.

OR

PCs misjump into the Star Craft universe and move on from there.

Never did locate my old copy of StarCraft other than the strategy guide for brood war. Finally thought it off eBay unfortunately it only worked for a few games and now crashes  when I trigger victory conditionson the 6th human mission and the first zerg mission.

I ll try it on a lap top next.

As for converting the story line where the Confederates are willing to feed frontier colonist to the zerg will work with a SF mega Corp. Yes the zerg and the enigmatic Protos are showing up but a mega corp is trying to profit from the situation.

I also like a sathar connection for the zerg. And potential situations where sathar will aid in destroying the zeg- this is very StarCraft in story line.

Jim Raynor, the colonial marshal works easily as a star law marshal or even local colonial law enforcement.

Need to codify all the upgrades for settings and hydralisks. Upgraded creatures are simply tougher and more dangerous and this become a story line in its self for SF. "These zerglings are stronger and faster than any we've seen before, wonder why?"

Don't know for sure if it's necessary but it may be best to file the serial numbers off the conversion. Call Protos Archons and Zerg: Zaerg or something
