The quiet outpost on the edge of the Frontier from the canon material we have:

Note that only 2 of Hakosoar's 5 moons are listed in Zebs and Histran's moons are given letter designation of A-G which is the first seven letters of the English Alphabet.

Planetary footnotes:
Hakosoar is headquarters for Universal Households, the apparel, household furnishing, and housing mega corp. UniHo developed the city of Hyyay as its operations base.

Histran is the location of the UPF outpost that keeps an eye on the Mechan system, the Lesser Morass, and that sector of the Vast Expanse.

Universal Households
UniHo specializes in three distinct areas: textiles and clothing, household furnishings, and buildings. Their synthetic apparel resists grime and wear and is inexpensive. Therefore UniHo made sure it controls the fashion industry; though made to last longer, their clothing goes out of style yearly. UniHo furnishings are usually made of plastic or plasteel and are modular in design. Any piece of valuable furniture, such as real wood pieces, are made by a sub-contractor. UniHo buildings are pre-fab dwelling, offices, industrial and professional facilities, and so forth. Specialty buildings are expansive and are designed and constructed by architectural engineers.

Headquarters: Hyyay, Hakosoar
Chief Executive: K'an Ku (vrusk)
Subsidaries: Two massive ones: Planetary Structures Inc., and Kotiz Fashions Inc.

Timeline entries:
94PF Scree Fron system discovered by Yazirians.
32-26PF Thirtytwo exploration vessels are lost trying to map the Lesser Morass. Only the area between Scree Fron and Zebulon is mapped.
70FY The Mechanon civilization on Volturnus undergoes an upheaval. The majority of peaceful Mechanons migrate into the undeveloped space between Scree Fron and Dixon's Star.

We can assume the following form the above:

1. there almost certainly is a jump route from Scree Fron to Mechan but this is not public knowledge (Ie the mechnons probably know it even if they jumped there from Zebulon but Star Law and the UPF certainly know this jump route but do not publicize it.

2. Because of the UPF outpost on Histran, which is almost certainly a combination Space Fleet and Star Law base, there is likely a strong Space Fleet presence in Scree Fron and this may be part of the reason that there is not a militia organization here (that and the fact that the system has had low population levels and only at the time of the publicaiton of Zebs guide had the capitol planet reached the level of moderate population). I'm going to interpret the zebs footnote which says "UPF outpost" as an indication that this outpost is UPF run but has a Space Fleet and Star Law contingent assigned since it didn't specify one of those organizations and both would be required to fulfill its stated mission.

3. the most likely jump routes to Starmist are through Araks or Scree Fron. Araks is not all that freindly toward non yazirians and with the presence of a UPF outpost on Histran and its stated mission it seems most likely that this outpost also monitors Starmist after its discovery and that all offical UPF ships headed toward Starmist are routed through Scree Fron

4. Scree Fron has been a staging area for exploration- mapping the Lesser Morass, exploring Starmist, 32 exploration vessels lost in the area suggests that there were more than 32 and Scree Fron is the obvious staging area. Perhaps the UPF base on Histran also has a contingent from the official UPF scout service?

5. There is likely no way that UniHo overlooks the possibility of marketing prefab buildings exploration base camps. I'm sure they have a whole line of barracks, labs and base camp kind of structures that are modular, light weight and easily assembled.

One important question that occurs to me is that with UniHo being the queen bee of the fashion indsutry and Star Play being the Queen bee of entertainment and broadcasting there either is closs cooporation between the two or there is friction between the two?

Opportunities for adventure:

1. Clearly a mechanon campaign could be based out of Scree Fron. delegates from Mechan could be travelling to the Council of Worlds(possibly on the occasion of their petitioning the UPF for recognition) through Scree Fron and plots abbound while they are here. Star Law expedition to Mechano. A secret sathar plot to subvert some mechanons. Evil mechanons take over a yazirian monastery on Histran for some evil scheme of their own PCs end up liberating the monastery and rescuing the monks (perhaps a Ravenloft inspired adventure- Yazira-loft?)

2. Better than a mechanon campaign is a Exploration campaign based out of Scree Fron. Sundown on Starmist and Bugs in the System could be two separate chapters in that as well as new exploration with home brewed adventures.

One task of the exploration/scout service might be locating where the mechanons went to when they migrated ie charting the route to Mechan.

another task of the scout service could be locating more evidence of the klicks, the Alternity module Klick Klack could be mined for material for that.

A sand box 5 year mission to seek out strange new worlds and civilizations beyond the great expanse.

RE: population levels

Hakosoar goes form light to moderate over time and Histran remains an outpost, albeit an important outpost. Hakosoar must be the better habitat and Histran not so nice of a place.

Monks settled there looking strictly for the solitude?
Note monks on Histran is fan cannon proposed here:
http://www.starfrontiers.us/node/8189

Thus Histran should be a hostile envrionment, some what. Its either warmer (desert like) or colder than Hakosoar. It should be possible for people to live there though.

RE Moons:

Only 2 out of 5 moons named in Zebs for Hakosoar: Inti and Infi. A third name occured to me based off the construction of the first two: Iggi  Smile

as for Histrans moons designated A-G which are the first 7 letters of the English alphabet I would propose making that the first 7 letters of the Greek alphabet which actually fits well with SF's long association with the Greek alphabet. Thus they would be Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta, Epsilon, Zeta, & Eta

They would have these designation because their official naming had been overlooked and when the UPF established a base here there were given the alphabet designations. or one of the many exploration ships that staged through this system labelled them with alphabet designations upon scanning them and then they were sort of forgotten about and no one got around to naming them such that the scans submitted to offical sources carried the alphabet designations and these ended up sticking.

RE: a Vrusk CEO of a mega corp on a yazirian world?

Whats up with that. He's a long way from vrusk territory.

A couple of years ago I would have said change his race to yazirian but now I'm inclined to leave him vrusk and fill in the details. Ex-vrusk pirate that went legit? vrusk that never fit into the standard vrusk trade house model and simply built his own fortune and built a mega corp borrowing heavily form human and yazirian models of business. the company is an oddity in that very few vrusk work for it despite the vrusk CEO.?

No doubt the whole fashions that go out of style appeals to the artist in this vrusk. Each year there are new fashion designs .

Perhaps he was simply a fashion desinger looking for a place to manufacture his designs and had been frozen out of the market on vrusk worlds. The Hakosoar government was looking to encourage outside investment with tax incentives and thus this vrusk came here.

Places of interest in Scree Fron

Histran Base- UPF base on Histran- an outpost and landing facility that hosts a Space Fleet, star law and scout service contingent, possibly even a MSO lab since one plague invaded the Frontier from Starmist.
NOTE: there is likely a heavy patrol group in system at all times headed by something more than a frigate.

Iko's Landing: minor little outpost on Histran which doubles as a civilian landing field (only rudimentary services) some bars and off base entertainment for the military at Histran Base and point of access for reaching the isolated monasteries.

3 yazirian monasteries on Histran. one of the things the monks might do is produce hand crafted furniture and vessels (stone or clay) that usually make their way into high end showrooms and stores that are subsidaries of UniHo and or into the hands of Cappellan Free Merchants that land at Iko's Landing looking for rare trade items.

The city of Hyyay, a major city production & facility with a lot of urbanization going on and the head quarters of UniHo. I'm going to go with a private star port for UniHo to ship goods out of Hyyay strictly a cargo facility.

Capitol city of Hakosoar: Hako's Landing? or something else yazirian sounding no doubt it has a star port.

The Lost Explorers monument; with so many exploration ships lost in the vincinity the government of Hakosoar built this tribute to their spirit of exploration and adveture. Call it "The Spirit of Exploration"
its a monument (the spire or obelisk) and a museum dedicated to the spirit of exploration as well as archives of ships logs, personal logs and such. Researches come here to consult the archives from time to time.

RE: Military

Hakosoar should probably have a Ground Fleet depot: lots of equipment held in reserve against future need and a maintenance and training cadre at the depot.

Chisholm Depot or Chisholm base or Fort Chisholm. I wanted a human sounding name for this one since it would be established by the UPF and its not really required to be a yazirian name.

Space Fleet Patrol group
at least a crusier as flag ship couple of frigates and half dozen assault scouts of which there would be approximately 2-3 at Histran Base most of the time. Lower gravity at Histran might be more condusive to keeping a squadron of fighters there as well or in exchange for assault scouts.

Hakosoar planetary defense? there is no space going militia or space stations perhaps Hakosaur has invested in some limited ICM and laser batteries to protect key cities and some limited ground forces to protect their planet relying on Space Fleet to protect the system.

UniHo accounts for a large percentage of the gross system product and is the lion share of the industrial side of the economy.

The aggricultural side is devoted to yazirian food stuffs that are shipped widely to Hentz, Hargut and elsewhere. Hakosoar bites its tongue where the Family of One is involved and naturally the Family of One sees the Fashion capitol of the Frontier as vane and somewhat corrupt. Hakosoar is less likely to be antagonistic of the Family of One and Hentz since Hentz is a major trading partner still most Hakosoarins resent the Fo1 and its forced system of uniforms denoting position, career and social status.

Also there is a bit of fan cannon about the Fo1 practicing clan war under another guise (clan war is claimed to be a sin by Fo1) and virtually wiping out one clan from Hakosoar. thus there is a lot of resentment on the part of Hakosoar against Fo1 though they are not as willing to rock the boat as Yast and Exib are.

the education component listed as the economic output of Histran should be a labratories attached to but maybe not inside of Histran Base as well as a major research library attached to one monastary and dedicated to the study and preservation of yazirian literature from before the Star Exodus.
