Clarion is waterlogged with a very damp environment. Hovercraft make a lot of sense for the Royal Guard.

I think something like the LCAC built on a hover truck chassis but perhaps a little bit wider that than so it can transport a vehicle- a debarkation ramp like a landing craft. some heavy weapons and anti- air support with crew of around 4

Light armor and it only delivers the Guard unit(s)
Medium armor and it might also support a Guard unit after delivering it to the hot zone
I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers!

Hovercraft for an environment like the Florida keys should work. Key being what kind of enemy are they going to fight and their fighting style. Hard hitting or constant raiding or defensive.
Sounds like a great job but where did you say we had to go?

Hovercraft are awesome for quick strike vehicles. Whether as an attack craft or to deliver men and equipment to a zone, they really can be used in a multitude of environments. Water, snow, and desert would be ideal places for their use.

I agree with jedion, that it would be an ideal light troop vehicle for the Clarion Royal Guard.

I posted a link before about the Russian mega hover craft. That is more like a hard hitting vehical than most hovercraft.
