Re: Tactical Briefing For Operation Express Way
Dt: 09-10-2399

Dear Officers And Enlisted Personnel Of The Fleet,

Operation Express Way is the culmination of a four year joint program between the United Colonial Alliance Space Fleet Command and the Edon Coalition to build a hyperspace jump gate between the Sol system and the Vega system. On the eve of the completion of this very valuable project I call upon all of you to be at your best in each of your parts to make this project become a reality that benefits all of the United Colonies.

For the duration of tomorrow's gate transit event all Space Fleet forces serving in both the Sol and Vega Sectors are to remain at a heightened state of alert and readiness. A Restricted Fly Zone has been established near the hyperspace gates for both local and Interstellar traffic. All space travel has been restricted to mission authorized vehicles only within 0.5 AU's of the Sol (SHG) and Vega (VHG) Hyperspace Gate facilities during the day of departure and the upon day of arrival. Space Fleet Intel reports no unusual activity or terrorists threats towards the Gate from the Centauran Separatist Movement, the Prometheus Dawn Cells, or the Khalastan Pirates. The Polaris Listening Post reports no unusual space traffic or unscheduled jump points detected in the Sol Sector.

As a matter of safety, under no circumstances may capacitor shielding be activated by any spacecraft while inside the Restricted Fly Zone. United Colonial Alliance scientists have determined that certain properties of the Hyperspace Gate's mechanism will cause "Cap" shields to spontaneously overload while the Gateway is active.

The C.S.S. Aspire, under the command of Captain Karyn Simms, will provided additional security and scientific support operations at the SHG. The C.S.S. Intrepid, under the command of Captain William Deckard, will provide additional security and scientific support operations at the VHG facility. The C.S.S. William Logan, under the command of Captain Bishop Crane, will conduct the hyperspace transit from Sol to Vega to deliver logistical support for a future colony departing from Vega. The C.S.S. William Logan is scheduled to depart the Langstrom Industries Space Dock, where it is undergoing refit and repair, at 1700 Hrs. Earth Standard Time. The 'Logan is scheduled for arrival at the SHG around 1830 Hrs. for final pre-transit preparations. Gate Transit from the Sol Sector will occur on 11th, September, 2399 at 1935 Hrs. Earth Standard Time. Arrival at the VHG and transition back to normal space will occur on 12th, September 2399 at approximately 2230 Hrs. Earth Standard Time. The 25 Light Year trip from the Sol Sector Jump Point to the Vega Jump Point will take the C.S.S. William Logan about 28 Hours to complete. Needless to say, if successful, this travel time will effective break all known space manned flight records in Human History. Good Luck and God Speed to all of you endeavoring on this historic mission.

Sincerely,
Admiral Lynn Wingate
