This project is a multi-faceted game project the bridges the Titan Rising Game Setting (Under Construction For Bare Bones & Frontier Space) and Star Frontiers Alpha Dawn. One component of this project will include a play by forum post role playing experience that will take place right here. Our featured starship the CSS William Logan will be departing the Sol System for a routine colony supply mission on September 11th, 2399 (2012 our time). If you would like to participate please generate a brief character sheet using standard Alpha Dawn rules. If you would like to use your SF.us handle as your character name or in your character name that would be cool. Players who would like to play a SF race will definitely have the chance but their character will enter later in the adventure. High lights from the adventure may appear in a comic book format (time allowing). Players starting at Launch Date can play a Human, Edon, Xin, or Ganai. Examples of these races can be found in my Titan Rising project page here or at my website www.titanrising.webs.com.

Well, Terl is a Yazirian so I'll play a human instead.  If the characters need to be more advanced than just the basic 2 starting skills let me know and I'll update him.

Jr. Lt. Michael (Mike) Bell. a.k.a. "Stars"
Species: Human
Handedness: right
Age: 35

STR/STA: 55/55
DEX/RS:  50/50
INT/LOG: 60/65
PER/LDR: 55/45
PS: 3
IM: 5

PSA: Technological
Computer 1 (Programs known: Analysis)
Technician 1

Equipment: ID card, Laser Pistol, Skein Suit, "Chrono-com", and  back pack

Background:
Mike is an astrogator, a backwoods country boy who always had an interest in the stars, ever since he was little.  He worked his way through college earning an Astronomy degree where he designed, built, and programmed a series of telescopes (hence the tecnician and computer skills)  After graduating, he enrolled in Spacefleet as a way to actually get out and see space.  Until his first year cruise as a cadet he had never been off planet in his life.

The nickname of "Stars" was given to him by a junior officer during his first year cruise as a cadet.  An officer that would later be the captain of the ship on which Mike served his first full cruise after graduation from Spacefleet acadamy.  As he related the story to a fellow crewman on that ship, it happened like this:

"Michael 'Stars' Bell" wrote:
"Up until then [my first cruise] I had been completely planet bound, never had been off planet. I had gotten my Astronomy degree and then enrolled in Spacefleet as a way to get off Earth and actually into space. After the first year at the Spacefleet Academy, students are sent off for a couple of months on their first off-world tour. The Skipper was still a Jr. Lieutenant at the time serving on the ship I was assigned to. He happened to be assigned as the officer responsible for getting us midshipmen transferred to the ship and was on the shuttle with us.

"When we got into orbit, I was glued to the portholes. I spent every free moment gazing out at space. Apparently, I was so engrossed in my stargazing that I failed to respond the first couple of times the Skipper tried to get my attention. He make a comment out loud, something to the effect of 'Midshipman Bell seems to be a little star struck' that elicited a laugh from the others on-board and snapped me out of my reverie.

"From that point on, he always referred to me as 'Stars' for the rest of the cruise. Given my position in the Astrogation team, it was doubly appropriate and it stuck. It's been my nickname on every ship since."

Scott, I couldn't find any examples (accept the comic) of your races. Did you have stats or "how to play" material?

Also, love this ship;

w00t, I will be posting some more materials here in the next few weeks. I placed a few racial modifier stats on the other races on this page. You can see a lot of stuff on the Xin at the comic site.

Xin generally get along with most other races. As former soldiers for the Shi'an wars of conquest they are no strangers to interacting with alien races. As biomechanoids (essentially biologically engineered lifeforms) they are socially awkward and at times seem to bumble through social graces of other races. They are intelligent, fast learners, with an innate sense of curiosity and desire to serve. They are much more resillient than humans to extreme conditions and slightly stronger then your average human. They have superior night vision but inferior bright light vision. They have a very poor sense of smell which accounts for their ability to eat things that discuss humans and more sensitive spieces. Sense of touch is identifcal to humans and they are warm blooded. Xin have two sexes and are capable to reproducing heterosexually. However, do to their bio-engineering they much prefer invitro type clinical reproduction through artificial gestation where the development of their young can be carefully orhcestrated. Xin are very long lived and have natural life spans that have been known to be around 500 or more Earth years if they are healthy and without major injury or defect. The Xin were engineered by the Shi'an with physical features to fit function and environment. These Xin "castes" developed into were raised together, worked together and formed social communities together which became known as Clans. There are five clans, the Tal and the Fen are two largest and most powerful clans developed for interstellar travel and warfare" The Tal are more diplomatic and the Fen are more direct. The other three clans were devestated during the Xin's war of independance against their Shi'an creators. While the other three clans still exist there numbers and influence are considerably smaller. The three smaller clans include the Kae, the Pax, and the Gao. The Xin homeworld of Ryaden, located in the milkway galaxy, was left unihabitable by the great war with the Shi'an and the surviving Xin were forced to flee their now toxic and devastated homeworld. The Xin now roam the galaxy as nomadic wanderers finding solace in small refugee pockets throughout the known universe. The Xin are naturally gifted astrogaters and space travellers, as this was engineered into their genetic make up, and freely share their knowledge with others...even at times when it is not requested. They have a bit of an Ego but not do feel themselves as superior to others. The Xin have a loosely bound interstellar democratic based government which is called the Xin Confederation which is ruled over by a Clan Council of elected members from each of the five clans. Xin law is a tricky thing as it differs from clan to clan and is more of a abstract guide then a strictly concrete concept. Fen Xin are often sympathetic to their former masters the Shi'an feeling that the rebellion was too extreme and that life under the Shi'an was often better than life as homeless refugees. This is often a point of contension between the Tal and Fen clans.

Xin have a bio-mechanical organic structure throughout their bodies which they call the Q'almar. It is the legacy of their Shi'an biotech and provides a source of their accelerated healing and resillience. Xin have the ability to heal 10 STA points once per day making them very difficult to outright kill.

Ah yes, the Titan Class Mark 1, she is a beauty and cutting edge hybrid starship combining the best qualities of both a carrier and a battleship.

Awesome, welcome aboard "Stars".

We need to get you briefed on our upcoming trip through the Gate. While its not your typical astrogation assignment, the Edon at Gate Control will need an extra hand running numbers for our trip.

Absolutely, we would love to have you.

Please submit a basic character sheet by posting it here in the forum like Terl Obar did. If you would like to play a  frontier race you will get the chance but will enter a little later in the game. If you would like to play a Titan Rising Race there is a lot of basic info on racial characteristics for the Xin and some basics on the Edon. Simply apply the appropriate racial modifiers to your attribute rolls when creating your character.

We are in serious need of the following player occupations for the William Logan's command crew.

First Officer
Ship's medical officer / doctor
Security Chief
Chief Engineer
Pilot / Helmsman

(Similar postions for UPF crew will also be needed later)

Sorry for the Noob question, but I've never done a PBP game before. I'd be happy to play one of the tech positions needed, but don't know how I would be a pilot with 2 level 1 skills. Or chief engineer, etc.

Starting As A Level One Is Fine, Or If You Like You Can Go To A Training Center Prior To Start Of The Adventure And Learn A New Skill Level. The cost for learning at a holo center is 100 cr. per skill level and five days of training (Just like hypno training). Level 1 skill crew members will get paid 50 credits a day so if you start now you probably could move up a skill level prior to launch. Just post what you job you are starting to do on the ship and we will put you to work earning money for that next skill level.

Welcome Aboard Commander Kyrell

Here is your first assignment. The Logan is preparing to bring her engines online prior to the mission however before we can do that we need a diagnostic run on the engine system. Please roll against your technician skill level to complete the diagnostic with one attempt per day. (Operating Machinery: Success Rate 50% + Skill Level) Report your progress by post here in the Launch Date Forum and notify Captain Crane when you have completed the diagnostic.

Officers with a level 1 skill set will be paid 50 credits per day and you could use some of those earnings to visit the holo training center to move up a skill level. Skill levels are the same at the holo center as those in an AD hypno center (100 cr per skill level + 5 five days of training). Or you can add your academy experience to your skill set and adjust your character sheet accordingly (see pg. 91 of the SFKH remastered campaign book).

Please remember that all Officer Positions are considered graduates of the Colonial Space Fleet Academy at Anchorage Station. To see the equivallent benefits of being a graduate please see page 91 of the remastered SFKH campaign book under the section on the Golwin Academy. Though the names are different the results are essentially the same. Please adjust your skill levels appropriately to reflect these skills on your character sheets as graduating officers. As stated below you can also improve skill levels by visiting the Holo training center on the 'Logan for the cost of 100 cr. per skill level and five days of training as equvialent to hypno training in the AD expanded rule book.

Martial Arts

Background
Born in the State of Carolina, his father Simon Forrest was a physician as well and his mother was a practicing psychologist.  Augustus often joked that he never had a chance at any other career other than medicine.  The family was well off and he was sent to private schools until he turned 14, he was then sent to a military school for four years and he fell in love with the idea of service. It was during this time that he learned to appreciate chess and the study of the martial arts, its also where he got his nickname Duke.  Some instructor had told him that if he kept fighting that he would ruin his hands and never be a doctor, he replied in an exagerrated accent that he would keep his "dukes" up and if he couldn't be a doctor he would be one hell of a fighter.  Well it stuck...

The service has become his family and he is never afraid to put himself in the frontlines nor is he worried about his own skin.  He is comfortable talking to Navy brass or working off steam with the Marines if need be, he fondly remembers his days being attached to Marine Expeditionary Units and he is on very good terms with various members of the "other side" and is welcomed by them.

((IT's rough but I wanted to get something over quick so please let me know what else I can add or subtract!!))

Welcome aboard the C.S.S. William Logan, "Duke".

Lately we have been very behind schedule getting ready for our upcomming launch date. Captain Bishop left some tasks for you here on the data pad to get started with upon getting settled.

1. Straighten up the emergency Med Pods on the bridge. It appears that Lt. Bell was using them for a rack while doing the astrogation plots.
2. Make us a list of any medical supplies and equipment you may need for our trip to Vega.
3. And see what you can do about Ensign K'zel's case of food poisoning.

Looking to take the Pilot position but willing to change details to fill in where necessary.

Jr. Lt. Clara Finsletter

General Information:
Race: Human Rank: Lt, Jr Affiliation:
Position: Pilot
Assignment:
Homeworld: Lossend
Gender: Female
Handedness: Right
Age: 25

STR/STA: 45/45

PSA: Technological Computer 2 Technician 6 Pilot 1

Background: A recent graduate of the Academy Clara is fresh faced and extremely proud of herself. Some would say too proud and see her as haughty. Clara is the fifth of seven children of farming parents from Lossend. At a very early age she realized that harvesting the trees was not the life she wanted and began to work on a space career. After years of late nights studying alone she managed to earn a full scholarship to the Academy. Now a graduate she is thrilled to begin her life in space.

Growing up literally in the middle of nowhere and having spent what little free time she had studying has left socially awkward and unsure of how to react to others especially those of other races. On the job she is the consummate professional, confident and skilled.
Sounds like a great job but where did you say we had to go?

i will add you tonight! Welcome Aboard. I made some minor changes to your character sheet, especially in the background area to fit the story. Your character concept is very cool and will make for some intersting and fun interaction with this crew. Your character will be entering the story on Day One as the relief pilot taking Commander Grant's station after her injury.
