Propellerman March 29, 2012 - 7:32pm | Today, while walking through the school where I work during recess, I found a group of middle schoolers(Sixth, seventh, and eighth graders)playing STAR FRONTIERS in the library. I double checked, and they were playing the real game. I wanted to share this information with all of you. I think it's wonderful that the torch is being passed on. How about you? Tell me, have you ever heard of a time lord? A species that was said to exist a long time ago. Legend says they are older than even the mythical Tetrachs. Maybe, on some glorious day, a survivor of their apocolypse will visit the frontier. There is nothing we can do now. Nothing but sit and wait. Professor Clanuuk'Tu |
TerlObar March 29, 2012 - 8:27pm | That's great. Ad Astra Per Ardua! My blog - Expanding Frontier Webmaster - The Star Frontiers Network & this site Founding Editor - The Frontier Explorer Magazine Managing Editor - The Star Frontiersman Magazine |
Shadow Shack March 29, 2012 - 8:34pm | I'd want names of parents. You know, just to ensure the kids are getting a proper roleplay education. |
w00t (not verified) March 29, 2012 - 8:53pm | +1 Maybe you could give them a copy of the Star Frontiersman :-) |
iggy March 29, 2012 - 10:15pm | There is hope for the future! A generation may be coming that is not hooked on video games. A generation that actually has it's own imagination again. Our hopes and prayers are being heard. -iggy |
jedion357 March 30, 2012 - 5:53am | AWESOME. But you do know what follows "A New Hope" ? "The Video Games Strike Back"; though after that is "Return of the Roleplayer" so I suppose it will all be good in the end, as they don't roll out the "Phantom Roleplayer" I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
jedion357 March 30, 2012 - 5:56am | @ Propellerman I'll spring for the price of a copy of the SFman from Lulu and drop ship it to you if you'll put it into the hands of those kids. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
Propellerman March 30, 2012 - 6:37am | I talked to them, and their parents were not involved. The referee's uncle had told him that he used to play it when he was a kid. The referee looked up the game and bought a copy on amazon. He introduced the game to the kids at his school. He actually reads star frontiersman. Tell me, have you ever heard of a time lord? That is so freaking awesome. And I'm serious about sending a hard copy of the SFman - there is great power in putting a hard copy of something into someones hands. Obviously, the referee is a motivated go getter but we can hope that one or more of the players catches the fire. Send me a pm with your address and I'll send a hard copy SFman, if you like. Propellerman March 30, 2012 - 7:38am | He has actually made a whole organization. They are a group of humans who believe they are the only "pure" race. They believe other races are unpure. They all wear cloaks, each color stating their rank. They carry automatic rifles and sonic swords. He is thinking about submitting them to SFman. Tell me, have you ever heard of a time lord?
