Status: Unresolved

QuickTime plugin crashes constantly on this site

    Issue Number:
    221
    Severity:
    Minor
    Description:
I don't think it's a serious issue, but it's annoying to keep seeing the crash report bar pop up in Firefox. Every time I visit this site, the QuickTime plugin crashes on every single page on the site. The site clearly has something causing QT to crash. You might look into it. It seems to appear only after the page loads, so it may be connected to the slow page loads.

I'm not sure how long this has been happening, but it's been happening a while now. I've just been ignoring it in favor of more important concerns.

I installed it to get the dice roller to work (was told I needed a plug in for that feature to work) but then the dice roller still didnt work and the plugin crashes
I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers!

It may be that the only thing needed for the dice roller to work is converting an IE Java command to Firefox and other browsers, because there may be some Java specific to IE.

Check out the original design page for it, when we were hammering out the issues.

The dice roller seems to be quitting somewhere between the drawdiesm command and the "if" drawdiesm result. I think it may be the sound effect command, which is probably why the QuickTime solution was suggested. However, you can order Firefox to disable, bypass or ignore it, or you can find better sound code that's more integrated into the Java. I don't know how, so you'll have to research it. I'm too busy with other things to do it. As Bill said, the sound I added was modal. I don't know how to integrate it further. Find out how to resolve the sound effect issue in Java and you should have no problem resolving the issue.

Whatever you did to QuickTime, it's not working, so it should be removed.
