Brain storming 2 modular ship classes

I'm working up a modular HS 15ish  ship design to be used in both a freighter and a ag ship

whats modular is the basic bridge, crew, and other necessaries that show up in most ships and its based off the KH freighters in look and shape
To that end I'm doing a "head" section with bridge, crew habitat (3 decks) Then 2 more decks with one being either internal cargo holds or passenger cabins for the freighter (or robotics/storage/ equipment for the ag ship) and the 5th being the deck with work pods and a main hatch

There will be a tail module for engineering

Since the KH freighters and the ag ship have along thin cylindrical core they both use the above mentioned modules with the central core being different.

Making the multiple ship desings off of basic modules should drive down cost maybe knocking % of the hull cost.

The central core for the freighter is just and elevator, ladder well and docking hub for external cargo modules
I was also thinking that the docking hubs could also be hatched so that cargo modules could be entered after all militia crews often insist on searching the cargo.

That lead to thinking that someone might want to convert the frieghter to other purposes like exploration- its got ion engines which is good for that, for instance a cargo module could be converted to being a lab with a big parabattery to run the Life support and power in the module but with the cargo module having vertical orientation the lab would have several small decks accessable by a ladder (no elevator), other standard cargo modules would be just for stores for the long term mission. But then a special shuttle bay module could be added in place of one of the cargo modules.
With one shuttle bay module for a landing shuttle and one for a digger shuttle the ship would be set for a very long term mission as the digger shuttle would be used to replenish fuel- comets would be first choice but asteroids work as well.

Good design.

I downloaded the Castor Class plans.
Consider adding a legend. At least let us know the square scale.

General Observation (feel free to ignore)
Looking at the workpods I noticed a single airlock. Not sure what the chances are of a workpod getting torn off the hull but it might be a good idea to have a room with another airlock. I remember seeing them on Terl's plans as well - that night we tested openRPG but not sure how he had them.... Undecided

Yeah,  I fudged the work pods, I was just going to assume that they have a internal hatch and the hatch seen is a fixture of the ship.

I need to wrap this design and get onto the ag ship modules for it.Wink

Cool, got a bit of Gullwind going on in the bridge level.

You're a braver soul than I, tackling the scale for a HS:15 craft...

I figure ag ship or freighter a it wont have the same number of decks as a star liner

Yeah, but it's still 70 meters wide. That's 70 squares at 1 meter each, 35 at 2 each...or 14 at 5 each. The former two are fine for detail but too huge for paper/computer screens, the latter too small for detail but fits on a piece of graph paper LOL

It's why I gave up on a UPF light cruiser deck plan...way too much space to fill in. I got a very articulate and massive bridge done, it sort of echoes the inside of the KH campaign book artwork, yet only managed to fill up less than half the deck. I mean I have this massive 40 meter by 15 meter gap to fill and I'm clueless what to stick in there. Clip the wings off an assault scout and it might fit...
