Corvus March 13, 2008 - 8:17am | I hope nobody comes by thinking I'm saying we should string Bill up or anything. I still have nothing but respect for him; I get a little sharp when I get frustrated, I suppose. The next time I see Larry I'll try to have him get hold of Bill to give Bill a tap on the shoulder. This really is taking far too long. If you wish to make an apple pie from scratch, you must first invent the universe. -- Carl Sagan |
umungus March 13, 2008 - 8:23am | I'm willing to help in any way. I made a few submissions. I am currently working on some new technology. I am also putting a campaign together. We have played it and ironed out some kinks. I hope to submit it as a series of modules. I would like to keep the Starfrontiersman going. I find that we use them a lot during games. Maybe even more than the rule books. At least I got to scare an alien rabbit thingy...... |
Corjay (not verified) March 16, 2008 - 2:03am | Just posting CleanCutRogue's message for posterity: Right now, I'm in Malaysia helping to get my company's interests started up here. Yet still I'm working on the webzine. I'm finishing up Issue 8 right now. All I'm working on is the classifieds on the back page. If you have any classifieds to submit, please send me a PM. Next issue, I am going to build a staff of people who might have time to commit to this growing webzine. I don't want to lose people's faith in my commitment to provide fan-based sci-fi goodness. But it's a sad truth that I'm only one man. After this issue is done (should be tonight), I am going to work on setting up a standardized method of article submission, and get some help from those of you who are willing. Anyone who has any suggestions, please submit them to me by PM. You should all have the issue tomorrow. I'm sorry I took so long. |
Will March 16, 2008 - 9:18am | Yayyyy! I volunteer for part-time work(i.e I'll do what I can given work hours and screwy dial-up) on the zine. Corjay (not verified) March 16, 2008 - 12:52pm | This issue looks great. One thing: I can't believe I spelled "teeming" as "timing". And "Promenant" should be "Prominant". |
Corjay (not verified) March 16, 2008 - 1:05pm | By the way, no wonder you're low on submissions, Bill, it's 70 pages! 48 would be great, but 70? Yowza. Awesome job on the issue as usual, though. |
SmootRK March 16, 2008 - 3:33pm | I have only had a chance to scan through #8, but I see a lot of really cool stuff. I am also surprised to see 70 pages of material... especially when I noticed that one of the articles I submitted to Bill was not in there. Bill must have had plenty of material this time around, and I am glad that because this probably means there is already some material for #9. As far as staff contributions, please let me know if I can help. Maybe in an editorial reviewer role... Like Bill, I have had numerous lifestyle changes this year, limiting my time, but I would like to help wherever I can. Great Issue!!! <insert witty comment here> |
TerlObar March 16, 2008 - 8:53pm | Well, looks like I'd better go finish reading issue 7 so I can start in on 8. Ad Astra Per Ardua! Corvus March 16, 2008 - 11:09pm | Wow. Kick ass stuff. The new Mechanons blow my mind. Now if somebody could only rework the Humma and Ifshnits to rock that hard... Damn good issue! Let's see if the new team can keep the quality to this level. If you wish to make an apple pie from scratch, you must first invent the universe. -- Carl Sagan |
SmootRK March 17, 2008 - 12:32am | I think I am going to do a copy/paste maneuver to place the Mechanons of this issue into my Zeb's pdf.... ...and I agree, lets get a good rehash of the other miscreant Zeb's races. <insert witty comment here> |
Corjay (not verified) March 17, 2008 - 12:39am | A guy at Enworld said he doesn't even play Star Frontiers, but that he uses the stuff from the mag in his Traveller game. He also touted the mag over at two other sites. |
SmootRK March 17, 2008 - 1:10am | I usually do a fair amount of pimping the Star Frontiersman mag over at ENWorld, but you beat me to it. I will wait until later tomorrow, or maybe tuesday to bump that post again... much more traffic during weekdays. <insert witty comment here> |
SmootRK March 17, 2008 - 7:50am | Cleancut, update the www.starfrontiersman.com site with #8 (and put #7 over there as well)... people are still finding that site... and as discussed, many find that site to be a better entry point into the game than the revival/project site. EDIT: I just noticed that you have been updating over there... scratch that, but update the front page with new News. <insert witty comment here> |
Corjay (not verified) March 17, 2008 - 8:00am | Yeah, Bill, that's what I meant in my message, was the front page of the site. |
umungus March 17, 2008 - 10:46am | Issue 8 is great. I am really enjoying it. Thanks for all your hard work Bill. Time is very precious, we seem to have less and less of it in our busy lives. I sincerely appreciate you taking some of your time to put out Starfrontiersman. It has helped me rediscover roleplaying, and has gotten my family and friends in on the game. Very cool stuff. If you did nothing else, you have already done more than enough. I sure hope you don't bow out completely though. Thanks again, Chris Harper P.S. I'll be submitting some more articles and art soon....... At least I got to scare an alien rabbit thingy...... |
CleanCutRogue March 17, 2008 - 9:21pm | I know I need to update the What's New section... I've tried twice but am having some minor difficulty updating it. For some reason I've no trouble with FTP though, even though it's slow. Tonight I'll try editing it via FTP. This is part of the trouble with being in Malaysia at the moment... 3. Will March 21, 2008 - 12:38pm | One thing: I can't believe I spelled "teeming" as "timing". And "Promenant" should be "Prominant". Prominent, actually. But, then again, I didn't win many spelling bees either.... "You're everything that's base in humanity," Cochrane continued.
