Feature Req: Character generator special edit mode....

    Issue Number:
    162
    Severity:
    Minor
    Description:
For keeping ones character sheet up to date during online play, how about a special edit mode where one basically can just edit the Equipment section?

During play, I'd like to see as much of my equipment as possible, while also being able to easily edit as equipment is used or added. The current edit mode has only a small edit window for equipment, and saving takes out out of edit mode.

As most data isn't updated during play, might be nice to have a special edit view that has a larger edit window for equipment (and doesn't allow editing of most data), plus a save option that saves the data while remaining in edit mode.

This request should be moved to the Online Star Frontiers Games support area.

I think that's a great idea. Perhaps have an ammo edit field and a credit edit field.

If they're able to edit equipment in-game, that will include ammo and credits, as those are two of the things that go in the Equipment field.

Submitting data through ajax is possible without causing a page refresh/reload... so it's not impossible.  I could also just put that edit field in its own iframe so submitting will work fine without refreshing the entire page.

FWIW, implementation is up to others, the basic request is just a page with a larger edit field for Equipment, and a 'Save...And Edit Again" type button so that those of us who like to save often don't have to Save, wait for the display page to load, then click edit, wait for the page to load, then get back to typing....

Ajax may make it ever faster and nicer, but don't have to get that fancy if don't want to....

I'm already using ajax on the gaming page (the dice rolling).  Adding another ajax query might not be all that hard really.  But it might be equally simple to do it with an iframe.  I'll look into it and see how I can provide it.
