Are the Phanatons from Isle of D of a yazirian ecological origin?

Yazirian ecology?

Phanatons from Isle of Dread.

friendly curious tool users with language.

I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers!

They ought to be.
Perhaps a missing link like the Neanderthal?
Most yazirians share 3-6% DNA with the Phanatons. Call that a fact of science but the Fo1 denies this is true and has declared it heresy to Fo1 belief.

Side Note: I love these illustrations for several reasons.

1. the action is dynamic and awesome. How about that shield pinned against the ground by the adventurer's own body making it useless?

2. the descriptions in the module make it clear these guys are friendly and curious and welcome the idea of making powerful friends with the PCs and or trading with them so the fact that the art portrays PCs getting swarmed the the 59 phanatons tells me these PCs must be murder hobos and who doesn't like hearing about murder hobos getting taken down?

Drallow Sooen, a dralasite linguist working on the Yazirian/Pan Gal dictionary coined the name Yazanderthal

Pictured above is the Pygmy Yazanderthal.

Someone working on Isle of Dread really liked the Yazirian like Phanatons- 3 different bits of art for them and a village map given the full page treatment?

I'd definitely call then relatives of the Yazarians... Since it looks like the module might have come out before Star Frontiers, maybe TSR used the Phanaton's to create the Yazarians?

Or, how about this idea... the Tetrarchs took some semi-intelligent species from the Yazarian homeworld and seeded them elsewhere near the Frontier?

Or a mad Eorna scientist, having traveled across interstellar space in hiberation, is awakened by his ships computer when it runs across the former Yazarian home solar system. While Yazaria (or Wahoo or whatever you want to call the homeworld) is devastated/destroyed, the Yzarians had left a terraformed moon somewhere where the proto-Phanatons were left. Then the Eorna scientist "raises them up" to intelligence... Yeah, unlikely... but as unlikely as the creation of most of the Volturnus races...

Anyway, a few mad musings for you... I think I like the Tetrarch idea that I first posted as a better possiblity.

I could roll with the tetrarchs uplifting a primitive species to become the yazirians

I do see Yazirian 'wings' as being more like this, rather than loose sheets of skin attached at various places to the body. In that way they're more like flying squirrels in terms of how they glide and what the 'wings' look like.
