Volturnus's History is as messed up as Star Trek post J.J. Abrams

We have the history in the modules, the history in the dragon article Volturnus Connection, the hated Zebs Guide time line.
Its like J.J.Abrams got a hold of a Tardis and traveled back in time and started a Kelvin timeline in Star Frontiers.

The Zuraqqor Strike Back
By Brian Valentine
Dragon Magazine #95

"The Zebulon Raid"
A classic Space Fleet "patrol group" of the UPFS Arcturon (DD) and the UPFS assault scouts Arrow & Remora escorting the UPFS freighter Anaconda are attacked/ambushed by the ZMS Brtz'krgr a type B zuraqqor cruiser

"The Volturnus Incident" occurs 1 month after the Zebulon Raid.
PGC yatchs and privateers defend the PGC station in orbit from a Zuraqqor class B and class D cruisers

NOTE: since Zebs guide does not list a space station in orbit at Volturnus I believe we can state that part of the outcome of this battle, historically speaking, was that the PGC station in orbit was destroyed. Win or lose by PGC the Zuraqqor managed to destroy the space station.

"Tote that Barge"
A short guide to interstellar economics

Matt Brandy
Dragon Magazine #107

This article fails to list Volturnus as a source of raw resources which we know for a fact it is. So either the table predates the events in the Volturnus modules or Volturnus is not a significant source of resources or its an intermittant source and PGC likes to funnel what it gets into PGC's manufacturing pipeline.

The Supporters of Mechano
Quote: "The Mechanites have centers on every civilized planet." how could they not have a center on Volturnus, the birth place of the Mechanons?

So come the time of the Mechanon Revolt I would postulate that the Supporters of Mechano were active on Volturnusm and potentially involved in the revolt one way or another.

This is an interesting set up for a Volturnus adventure- PCs could be on the freighter Anaconda for the Zebulon Raid, have time on Volturnus which might include the Hepplewhite crash plus other stuff then be on the PGC station for the Volturnus Incident. Call this a different take on "Crash on volturnus" - Hepplewhite Crash as a bit of a oh this is the crash on Volturnus but then the space station gets shot up and its going down so PCs must get to life boat or escape pod.

Polyhedron #9 "Encounters" by Zeb Cook

an Ul-mor named Northru is befriended by Star Devil pirates and taken to Laco before being abandoned there.

He meets a member of the PGC Artifact Research and Recovery Team, a Xenoarchaeologist seeking a way back to Volturnus.

This is the first clue to the wider Frontier that there is a sapient species on another planet nearby and potentially predates the Volturnus campaign.

"Fire at Will"
Ares #17

Incident 217K
Details how a task force commanded by Admiral Kraal pacified the last pirate outpost in Zebulon system on the last planet of the system.
The Battleship UPF Constellation was the command ship.

no piracy activity in Volturnus for 3 years after this. and then the incident was considered a transient pirate passing through.

Edit: This could be seen as the last hurah for the Star Devil pirates IMO

Incident 217L
Admiral Kraal then responded to a subspace SOS only to face the Sathar. the sathar were stopped by at a terrible price to the UPF with only 2 ships suriving and those were extensively damaged.

OK so that covers history in Dragon, Polyhedron, and Ares magazines with the exception of the Volturnus Connection article but that stands in opposition to the history in the Volturnus modules and in Zebs so what to do???

I believe later Volturnus history in the Zebs time line can be for the most part harmonized with cannon from better sources but essentially a referee will need to pick between cannon or Volturnus Connection.
