A Lake with a Hole in it

From Portugal, we get this constructed feature, a spillway for a dam. But imagine it as an entrance to an underground grotto. Your chasing a sathar to prevent him from warning his buddies and he slithers into a lake and down a hole like this, do you follow?

This is really an unusual feature. One might even say "alien" so I really like it for sathar architecture. Perhaps it occurred naturally on the world of sathar nativity and the lake with a hole in it and an underground grotto became a feature in sathar society.

Imagine a tall building where each floor has a hole in it. Except there is a 1 or .75 meter lip around each hole forcing the water to fill to this depth before it spills over. The. The water fills each floor to the spill hole lip and a pump in basement returns it to the top floor. Some floors would have raised dias areas to keep things like computers and electronics out of the water.

Sathar, lacking a bone structure can easily drop through a spill hole without fear of breaking bones. Yazirians can do the same but others in the core four risk injury as the water is not so deep .

Contrive a situation where the PCs land on roof and begin a vertical dungeon crawl to the ground floor.

I just took some pictures of a swamp in Avon MA. It was interesting in that there was a cool looking rock sticking out into the swamp. What is this tower was in a swamp? We don't need a deep water lake which would suggest sathar are more aquatic. A swamp fits their slimy description.

What if sathar cities are a collection of similar buildings in a swamp or marsh.

In addition a swamp or marsh would make ground level access harder for the core four which in turn puts pressure on PCs to try roof top access

Interesting... the S'sessu would probably have different architectural ideas too, but you have a neat idea.

What kind of damage would a Dralasite take from falling through a water filled slide or drain funnel that a Yazirian who would not be able to glide ya know cause of the water take?

To put it simply Yazirians are in the same boat as Humans and Vrusk and possibly worse since they have light bone structure while Dralasites would just bounce "like a red rubber ball"
Sounds like a great job but where did you say we had to go?

No this is good Satharoid building ideas have got to be different than ours... hell water tubes might be their thing, slimy twisty tubes, slip and slides... that they slither swim through connecting to chambers. Since status is important, the question then is how does that manifest in building design... it could be very different than our ideas. I love the idea of a lake or swamp hiding a city or building.... down might be higher status versus up, if prime slime real estate is more valued than being in a penthouse up in air.

Status is important but only for worm at the top.

Sathar view of any lesser creature is that of asset to be used. Lowest status worms are houses in large communal vats. Vast majority of "space" world be utilitarian and service the masses.
