Did you see it?

Finding this made my day. I remember seeing it way back in the day (11th grade).

No, I never saw the TV commercial. I picked up the game because of the ads in Dragon magazine. Good find.

There was a radio commercial as well, but I haven't found that yet.

Very cool find!
I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers!

I never saw that as a kid that I remember.  I think that was a vrusk speaking through a polyvox.  The hands looked vruskish.

Too low to the ground to be a vrusk. I think the commercial was taking advantage of the E.T.-movie-mania of the time.

TSR would never take advantage of the popularity of a movie! [Cough! Dramune Run]

Yeah it sounded a little like ET. My impression was it reminded me of a dralasite.

I think it was just meant to be a generic alien. It's likely the commercial's immediate producers had never played or even read the rules.

That commercial was pretty much a reprise of the ad that ran in comic books which actually did depict a vrusk (although the TV spot featured the Alpha Dawn printings instead of the original purple box from the comic ad)...I happen to have that ad archived on my SF site (albeit not a hi-res pic): http://starfrontiers.20m.com/ads.html
I'm not overly fond of Zeb's Guide...nor do I have any qualms stating why. Tongue out
