Refer to: Sathar Encounter Pods Type 1.

I'd say that since they removed a sathar brain to run the obelisk structure on Volturnis for 900 years the sathar have this down to a science. I'd write it as they remove the brain and be done with the body.

Apparently the sathar dont suffer from the same problems of aging as humanity as a human brain would not last that long. Sathar must view this as a viable option for immortality.

I can envision a sathar planet with tubed brains running the show.
I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers!

great idea. The sathar may have also developed a process to keep the sathar brain alive and preserved longer. We don't last very long because of many factors including genetics, polution, chemical exposures, self-inflicted abuse, infirmities and ailments. If our brain got fed a steady supply of good oxygen, good nutririon, and care it could last a lot longer too. However, there are always limits so I would say 300 years tops under peak conditions before requiring replacement by a new brain. Of course they may have a stasis technology that preserves the cells longer than that but who knows when it comes to the sathar.
