I started work in earnest on the Gamma World Core rule book for the URS. So far I've given an overview of the plague that swept through the ancient world killing billions and mutating a significant portion of the survivors, put together most of the principle character generation material and detailed post plague Humans (or Numen as they call themselves) Pure Strain Humans and a mess of optional races for the Gamma world that include:

Androids: A reminder of the technology of the ancients
Bushkin: Sentiant plants in humanoid form.
Caynine: Mutated canines
Dabbers: Raccoon people
Ferren: Mutant humanoid rats
Gren: Nature loving Green humans
Leonine: Mutated African lions of the apocalypse
Sasquatch: Big foot race from Alternity's Gamma World
Sleeth: Seer lizards
Tygerr: Mercenary Tiger folk
Ursus: The solitary Bear folk of the Gamma World
Verbeeg: Very big dumb mutated humans based on one of my favorite AD&D monsters

Oh let me not forget Psychics and Mutants of course.

This is going to be a big set of books that'll hopefully capture the feel of the best of the various versions of Gamma World for the URS.

Well it took two solid days but the Core rules book (Player's guide) to the Gamma World (URS) project is done. The book turned out to be 250 pages because of the addition of the races, the genetics, Mutant rules, and psionics but it is a prime example of how one can take components from one URS book in this case the Expanded Universe guidebook for Star Frontiers (URS), add it to the Core URS rules sprinkle in enough original material and you soon have a whole new campaign model.

The next phase of the Gamma world book is to put together an Administrator's guidebook which will take a lot longer than the Players guide, because I plan to include a lot of background material for the game including the Cryptic alliances and a timeline that should kind of mesh with the one I did for Star Frontiers, since both campaigns are set in the same universe. but that's something I'll be working on in stages.

Things change from concept to finished product. I am 83 or so pages into the administrator's guide for Gamma world and Without adding a lot of the background material I wanted to put in, the book is going to be about 140 pages. I decided to move the background stuff into the expanded Gamma world rules book, much in the same way I moved a lot of Star Frontier's background stuff into the Expanded Universe book.

The Administrators guide will just focus on rules and material to help Administrator's create and run adventures, but will include all sorts of nifty stuff like, high tech equipment, Cybernetics, and Robots, as well as lots of tables to generate those treasure vaults filled with ancient gear just waitng for Scavengers to stumble opon.

One of the interesting things I ran across while working out the gear for the ancients is that my Gamma world setting takes place about 1,000+ years before the Star Frontiers campaign (the two are linked), so I had to tweak a lot of the equipment so that weapons were not as powerful as the one's in the Star Frontier's rules and equipment that is similar to Frontier equipment is less powerful to show a progression in technology from what was available before the Last War and what advancements were made technologically in that 1,000 year period.

I'm pretty happy with how Gamma World is turning out, and it is giving me a lot of ideas fr stuff to do in both Gamma world and Star Frontiers for upcoming supplements.

Well it's been an interesting week so far. I'm about 95% finished with the Administrator's guidebook for Gamma World. I've just got to throw in a few ideas for Campaign models that can be created using these rules and I should be able to seal this book up. The Administrator's guide is clocking in at over 135 pages, and should be quite useful for those Administrator's wanting to play in Gamma World. However I'm not going to put too much campaign material in this book, and will put most of that into the Expanded Guidebook for Gamma World.

I'm Planning to focus on two campaign models for this system. One which will be very close to the Gamma world everyone is used to, and One that will be more akin to Aftermath, Twilight 2000 or Car Wars, with mainly human characters and a scant few mutants. I'm happy so far with how these books are coming out and hopefully if there is enough interest in this project you guys may get a chance to have these for your growing collection of URS books.

Okay So tonight I finished the Administrator's Guide for Gamma World and it is 140 pages all told. so now I have to turn my attention to the Expanded guidebook for the Gamma World with all sorts of new stuff like new feats, and mutations. The expanded guide will also give a lot of background details for the default Gamma world setting for the URS version of Gamma world.
