Should we re-remaster the AD/KH books?

Bill did a great service to us by re-mastering the books. He actually started the project for his family to play SF and then posted it to interested parties on RPG.net. The original books are copied text from sites like sf.com which are full of errors. My favorite is "air whales can fire sex shots per turn." Childish but funny.

What say you?
Should we put effort into this?

Pro's
The entire SF genre will be in the same layout.
Go back and fix errors.
Add some of the content from the magazine to the back of the book.
Split out Crash on Volturnus from the Core book?

Yes, I for one would like to see this done.  I'd love to see all the rule books and modules remastered, and errors corrected.  It is a lot of time, and I hope someone is up to the challenge...

Actually, I wouldn't mind taking on that project.  So I guess I'm volunteering.Surprised

Can you post how you want to run this project so we can choose tasks?

Okay, here are some notes I've been collecting on this.

Things that need to be done:
For each document:
1) Get text only version with basic headings.
2) Spell and grammar check document.
3) Validate document against originals for errors and mistakes
4) Put document into standard format.
5) Collect appropriate images for document.
6) Add pictures in appropriate locations.
7) Publish

Once for the project:
1) Create a standard template and layout for the document interior.
2) Design standard cover style for the covers.

Books that need to be done:
1) AD Basic Rules
2) AD Expanded Rules
3) KH Tactical Operations Manual
4) KH Campaign Book
5) Zeb's Guide
6) Each SF modules (SFAD0-6 and SFKH0-4)
7) The 2001 and 2010 modules?

I should probably actually look at the remastered books Bill created.  I have them all but never really cracked them open since I have the originals Smile.  The first step really is to get all the text from all the documents into very basic word processing files that we can edit and work on without all the clutter of layout and images.  Once we have each book in that format we can start correcting spelling, grammar and typos.  I'll set up a status board somewhere/somehow to track all this.

I'll step up and help with typing a portion of the text from the AD rules into a word file.

Do we want to remaster the original rules separately or start with Bill's combined remastered versions on the rule sets?

Jedion, you can copy and paste from the PDF. Works well in Word if you choose paste-special > unformatted.

FYI, Corjay sent me several files; re-mastered, scans and PDF's. I have not responded to him in email yet.

Maybe the rules should be the last thing we do, there is a lot of content that isn't re-mastered.

Nevermind.  I think you mean the ones associated with the project.  I'll have to look into that but it looks like the actual files the links point to are missing off the disk.  You can find them at http://starfrontiersman.com in the Remastered section.  They may have been intentionally removed from this site to keep all the downloads in a single spot.
