A CALL FOR ARMS!

All, I like SF. I like the Star Frontiersman. I don't like having to leaf thru my nifty printed Issue 1 through 6 book or look at PDF's on my lappy to find the ultra cool (weapon, creature, whatnot) for my game. I would like to see an online version using an intuitive interface to view, print and store my whatnots!

Would it be possible to use http://starfrontiersman.com as a repository for the features in the magainze? We could allow user id's from sf.us to login into sfman.com without people having to create new accounts. (some trickery could use the profile from sf.us as well).

Of course we could use this project as well... but if sf.us is getting a code re-write then it wouldn't make sense.

We could also link equipment to Online Character Sheets

(If this has already been discussed... ignore.)

I think this is a great idea for a feature for the SFMan site!  HTML or Wiki or whatever for the Races, Equipment, Critters, etc...

while it is nice to have the pdf for print, a simple text (copy/paste ready) version would be ideal.

NOTE: These are only ideas were kicking around.

Bill and I just talked and came up with an idea - Game Master Screen.
The site will allow you to customize a campaign page. With it a GM can select only the items they want in their campaigns from the Star Frontiersman (Rules, Equipment, Creatures, etc...). Additionally the GM can modify any item to his/her liking. They simply add the item to their Screen and add attributes.

Example:

I'm allowing the Tangler Gun in one of my settings. I will also allow a character to use different rounds bedsides tanglers in the gun. Some examples might be, smoke, incendiary or jelly.

GM's - what would you want to see? Ideas?

I would like to see pre-made characters. like the ones found in the Alpha Dawn rule book and in the Starfrontiersman issues. They make great NPCs.

At least I got to scare an alien rabbit thingy......

This is starting to get off topic but it's a great idea. I have dozens of old PC's lying around that I could post as NPC's. Maybe we could make an NPC project for people to post old unused characters and NPC's in for general consumption. As far as I can tell there isn't a project of that nature or did I miss it.  If not, I'll start one up./offtopic

I think a centralized repository of all the new equipment is a great idea as well. That is something a wiki might be really good for as well.

A few ideas.
  1. Use the Online Character Sheets project to post NPC's.
  2. Make a new project. Downside is you have a running list of NPC's without anyway to view them in a table format. You could search for an NPC by Race for example but still I think it would lack. BUT we could use the random generator!!!
  3. Create a new content type for this site called NPC. (Have to think about this).
I guess I would say create a project called "NPC" or "Pre Generated Characters"... This way we can use the random generator to roll up stats, backgound, weapons and the like?

Try out a random generator here.

If your character could do something outstanding during a campaign what would it be. Does your character have special abilities?

Quick and Dirty Character Background

Consider making a very light or non-existant background and discovering your character through role-play. This method offers more flexability during game play whereas a detailed predefined character could be "stuck in a rut". A GM can help you adapt your character to the campaign and offer some insite or a teaser, "You the only son of a high-up executive at PGC."

I totally agree cause I love having this all in one place. I had an idea of Rule Sets as well. Where you could drag and drop Rules to create a Star Frontiers game.

For example:
As a GM I want the following;
AD Core rule set
Mentalist PSA rule set
Ablative Damage rule set

The site would "bind" it all together and make a document. You simple print it out. Lots to do with this one..so it's still in the Brig! :-P
