I have been working on module and had a thought. Add a guidance sytem to assault rockets. Not an real guidance package--more of a on board computer lock on. Instead of the players firing the AR and rolling for a hit, they roll for a ship attack lock on. If the lock on is successful, the weapon fires and hits its target and dameage to the ship is rolled as normal.
Strenght--Conserve warheads
Problem--Character weapon skills will not apply if computer lock on is used. In order to use weapon skills the lock on most not be used and weapon skills such as Selective Targeting are game on.
This sounds like a great WAR Tech weapon to be sold to the UPF only.
Any thoughts on this.

I like the idea.
Some thoughts:

Reduce the damage, the guidance package takes up more room and may displace the warhead.
I wonder if torp guidance system could be used on AR's?
hit - lock on, same diff in my opinion.
If an AR locks on, then would that change the AR being a FF and MPO type weapon?

My thinking was that WarTech made a technological breakthrew which did not displace the size of the warhead.
This could be a simple prelaunch check between the rocket and ships nav computer. A small one degree roll on the X, Y, or Z axis to acheive a lock on and fire. Not a real guidance missile. This would keep the same FF and MPO value.

And let's not forget to add jamming factors for defense.  Another option is to make it wire-guided.

This means the signal can't be interfered with sans cutting the wire, but the drawdown is that, until the missile reaches its target, the shooter must constantly aim  at the target to guide the missile.  A standard missile speed is about 1km every 5 seconds.  U.S. TOW's (Tube-launched, Optically-tracked, Wire-guided) are a comparable anti-vehicular missile.  To the launcher, however, 15 seconds od tracking the target while being a target for any enemy that can see him, is an eternity.....

Standard anti-tank missiles travel that fast - an eternity to the firer, as I mentioned before.

I am not talkin' TOW missiles, AMRAAMS, SRAM, JSOW, JDAM's, or AIM-9's--Do you think my idea is good for Knight Hawks. I have loaded most of these weapons and I am thinking SFKN. In the future.
